In all honesty does voting even matter anymore?
No it doesn’t unless you live in NYC.In all honesty does voting even matter anymore?
The key is "lawfully possessed". This will just be an add on charge once everything is made retroactively unlawful. No it doesn’t unless you live in NYC.
By the way I’m reading this I will be a felon if I take my firearm apart to clean it, repair a broken part, and reassemble the components of my firearm. Anyone care to dispute that or think I’m wrong?
I guess they at least had the sense to include this. Undoubtedly this will pass and pass quickly. I guess I’d better get moving on a few things. This state is in the toilet and swirling fast.
GUNSMITH" SHALL NOT INCLUDE ANY PERSON WHO PERFORMS
ROUTINE CLEANING OR MAINTENANCE ON A LAWFULLY POSSESSED FIREARM, RIFLE

So New Yorkers aren’t able to buy rifle and pistol kits no more to save the consumer money? There’s a lot of shady speculation going on.
I understand it’s lawfully possessed but it only says you’re authorized to clean and maintain your own lawfully possessed firearm not repair it. I had an old rifle with a broken firing pin I replaced that and repaired the gun. The way I’m reading that if I do this 180 days after this passes I’m a felon. That’s my question. No swapping and AR-15 stock or pistol sights on your own either. Forget adding a scope yourself. The key is "lawfully possessed". This will just be an add on charge once everything is made retroactively unlawful.
Nyc as in the 5 boroughs is 45% of NYS population. If they vote one way you’d literally need 100% of nys to vote another for anything outside of nyc to count. Of course that’s assuming nyc votes one way. Also take into consideration I’m sure there are fewer under 18 year olds in nyc than in other parts of the state that hurts us even worse.I actually think the opposite.
NYC is generally a monolithic (D) vote every time and with a population of 8 million or so, statistically one vote may be as good as any other but unlikely to change much statewide.
We need everyone outside of NYC voting. Regardless of the ratio, "not NYC" still outnumbers NYC population. Granted, when you add Westchester, most of Long Island, and the cities upstate to that I am not sure what the mix is.
While it’s routine to change and swap out parts it’s not cleaning or maitenance IMO. I’d say cleaning is removing soils and Maitenance is applying lubrication to make it run.Technically, they won't be prohibited from selling parts. The AG may well pull a move similar to the 80% lowers and effectively kill the legit parts market. That's just one problem with this law... what's routine maintenance? For AR15s it's pretty easy and routine to change out almost any part of it.
Anyone have any idea what is supposed to happen to 80%s that already have a serial number? Can a "gunsmith" legally register a gun he didn't actually make and/or serialize?

I agree with bleach cocktail as that was my question earlier. I think you’ll be able to buy the part or parts but you won’t be able to install it yourself. The way it reads you’ll need to take it to a certified gunsmith. That’s fucked up.
Didn’t they blatantly throw away all 10 2A cases but preferred the LGBTQRSTUVWXYZ cases instead? The Supreme Court has been patiently waiting for a worthy second amendment case. NYC's incrementalism against the second amendment will eventually cause the tide to be turned in a landmark decision.

If this passes I’m not complying. I’m assembling my AR and cleaning them after using them. I’m trained to clean my rifle after every use and im not going to a range with a firearm that have 3 years CLP buildup.
Does a case have to be landmark though? I mean wouldn't it be just as good to win little by little? We're not winning shit. Not even a bread crumb.IMHO, none of them were really worthy of a review for a landmark Supreme Court ruling. Brett Kavanaugh won't easily forget the mud the left dragged him and his family through.
Really he sides with them often enough it seems he’s already forgotten and loves them.IMHO, none of them were really worthy of a review for a landmark Supreme Court ruling. Brett Kavanaugh won't easily forget the mud the left dragged him and his family through.
Did you read it? You need to be a licensed gunsmith to assemble any part on a firearm now.I seem to be missing something. Where does it say it will be illegal to buy parts or assemble a serialized gun? This law seems like its just for unfinished receivers with no serial numbers.
