King asshole will put this in his "shit holster" and wait for the most opportune high profile politically charged moment to bring it into the spotlight for maximum narcissistic effect. I've "heard" of two company's who recently will ship blocks of aluminum to NYS with no questions asked, since it's perfectly legal to do so. If I had a chance to thank them for their support of our 2A rights, I would. We'll see if they continue to do so after said bullshit legislation is in effect. The Assembly has to pass it then Cuomo has to sign it.
Assuming the Assembly takes it up next week (I have not seen the calendar yet), it could still take weeks/months before it is sent to Cuomo. Bills are not automatically sent to the Governor after passing both houses.
So it’s official? No more assembling parts?
"ANY PERSON OTHER THAN A GUNSMITH DULY LICENSED PURSUANT TO SECTION 400.00 OF THIS CHAPTER WHO ASSEMBLES, MANUFACTURES, FABRICATES, BUILDS OR FITS TOGETHER THE COMPONENT PARTS OF A FIREARM, RIFLE OR SHOTGUN, OTHER THAN FOR THE PURPOSES OF PERFORMING ROUTINE CLEANING OR MAINTENANCE ON A LAWFULLY POSSESSED FIREARM, RIFLE OR SHOTGUN FOR NON-COMMERCIAL PURPOSES, IS GUILTY OF A CLASS C FELONY."
While I totally agree with you for the most part what if your at a gun club or a gun range and you say oh I just upgraded this trigger you want to try it? Your buddy says yes and the guy in the other lane is a trooper and arrests you?Totally unenforceable. They're trying to legislate something that is extremely difficult, if not impossible, to legislate. Thus, the lazy way out.
What I predict- IF you are caught with an unserialized firearm (unlikely) you might be in trouble. IF
AND NY retailers will stop stocking, and online retailers will stop shipping, any aftermarket 'parts' to NY. Admittedly, a total pita
Does anyone seriously think that the DEC is going to stop everyone hunting with a rifle, shotgun or handgun and ask if it's the original barrel? Original trigger? Stock? Did the scope come with the gun when purchased? Bases? Rings?
I highly doubt the Oswego County Sheriffs office is going to waste their time on this, unless you're robbing a bank using a gun.
This opens up a huge can of worms. Can't swap your bird barrel for your deer barrel on your shotgun? Don't make me laugh.
I think they've taken complete leave of their senses. While I totally agree with you for the most part what if your at a gun club or a gun range and you say oh I just upgraded this trigger you want to try it? Your buddy says yes and the guy in the other lane is a trooper and arrests you?
It’s also not very hard to figure out of a scope was added after the fact. Most guns don’t come with high quality scopes and if you have a new model gun/scope they will know.
Now do I expect this to be a big issue no I agree with you but it’s a way to get gun owners if they want? Will simply possessing parts become illegal next?
You literally took the words right out of my mouthWhich goes beyond 80% lowers. Way beyond.
Fuck these people. Fuck them right in the face.
Doesn’t have to make sense to stop 2A supporters. Some people just want to see the world burn and wonder why did it in the first place.FFL Gunsmiths cannot engrave serial number and Their name on the receivers without violating federal law. Manufacturing without a license. Wonder how that is going to work.
If the law cannot be followed it is automatically invalid.Doesn’t have to make sense to stop 2A supporters. Some people just want to see the world burn and wonder why did it in the first place.
I hope so. FUAC and those who support this bill. I hate how politicians always push the agenda that “aSsAuLt WeApOnS” ban is good for us because “mass shooters”, doesn’t my car become an assault vehicle once I start driving on the sidewalk on Manhattan at 90mph? Why does a car need to go 200mph? Since when do we blame the items or our actions? It should be a crime to go against the construction punishable by death. If the law cannot be followed it is automatically invalid.

I don't recall seeing a definition of 'component parts'.
This shit is purposefully vague.
