Assuming the Assembly takes it up next week (I have not seen the calendar yet), it could still take weeks/months before it is sent to Cuomo. Bills are not automatically sent to the Governor after passing both houses.

So quite literally adding a scope to your rifle is illegal. Certainly changing the trigger in it would be.

Will this stand up in court? Of course. It's new york. There is no US constitution here. Court may throw a bone and force an allowance for trivial altercations like changing the stock on your shotgun to a more comfortable one, or adding a scope.

Does anyone seriously think that the DEC is going to stop everyone hunting with a rifle, shotgun or handgun and ask if it's the original barrel? Original trigger? Stock? Did the scope come with the gun when purchased? Bases? Rings?

All I can say is- I don't own a "ghost gun". I purchased all my firearms pre-assembled through FFL's.

Best of luck to NY in their court cases proving that adding a scope, replacing the trigger, adding a sling, replacing a bolt handle or knob with a 'tactical' one is "assembling" a firearm.

For the record, that's modification, not assembly.
