New York Governor Andrew Cuomo faced a growing backlash from angry residents Wednesday after threatening new income tax hikes should the state fail to receive more federal aid to cope with a worsening budget deficit.

“If we don’t get funding from Washington, there will be an income tax increase,” Cuomo said during a radio interview. “The [budget] hole is so big that if we don’t get federal funding, you will have to increase taxes on the higher end, you’ll also have to cut services, you’ll also have to borrow and you’ll probably have to lay off. That’s the scale of this deficit.”

Incompetent asshole. I don't hear Texas and Florida govorners, who Cuomo mocks, whining about Federal aid or even about massive budget holes and they don't have an income tax. Looks like Mr Emmy isn't all that great a CV19 manager unless you measure it by killing people.

I just got a promotion/12% raise and knew it would only mean increased taxes. My job will keep me here indefinitely but I am going to look at property in TN in two weeks. If I can change my residency and work remotely part of the time... FUAC

Fuck this god awful state straight to fucking hell and let's leave cuomo to rot on the gallows.

I have had enough and will not take any more. The remainder of my existence here is now devoted to breaking 'laws' and avoiding taxes.

(my registration and inspection are also many months past due as well, and IDGAF):salute:

You will still have to pay on income earned in NY. Wife works in nj, we pay both ny and nj

Here’s an idea - treat it like a family budget and cut spending.
That’s the danger of lifetime politicians- they have no concept of a limited supply of money/income. Tax and spend is always the answer.

Has it ever occurred to this idiot that we have a massive amount of people working remotely right now? Does he really think all these newly remote workers, freed of the bonds of working in NYC, are really going to tolerate an income tax increase rather than just moving to any state they choose?

I think any increase on taxes may have just as much the opposite effect.

Whatever. I say that because this should have been fresh in the minds of all residents of this fucked State.

If people did not think this was going to occur, they are idiots.

I could solve much of the financial woes of this State, other States and the nation if people would take my ideas and use them.

These ideas, may seem harsh, cruel and mean, but they should be part of our reality. This would have worked in the past, prior to Covid, these ideas would work now, during Covid and these ideas would work after the Covid Hoax...


Cut all aid to illegal people immediately. All of it. No free schools, housing, food or medical.

Cut aid in at least half for all programs dealing with the homeless.

Stop all programs for those that choose to be junkies, crackheads and drunks.

Cut, at least by 3/4, all monies to the arts and museums. If people want to see that crap, they will pay on their own.

Cut each and every department that has not been touched yet by 20%. I do not care how this is done. Wasteful spending goes away, layoffs, how ever this can be obtained.

Look through each and every aspect of the budget and start ripping all departments to shreds.

My biggest cuts of course would be to non-citizens, the homeless and the poor. All pay the least into the system, they should get the least out of it.

I would go further. I would eliminate entire agencies.

Fully agree. All of these outlandish budgets need to be seriously trimmed.

In my household, if we run short, we cut stuff out of our spending. I do nob from others to pay down my errors and mistakes.
