My thoughts as well. Since NYS has the final say, the onus of responsibility would be on them. Would be hysterical if they did pass this law and then nys and the politicians were held responsible under it and got sued into oblivion.

Of course they will exempt themselves from any liability. They already have blanket protection.

He will likely sign it at a closed press event this afternoon.

After nearly 30 years as an FFL I will probably NOT be renewing my state dealers license when it expires at the end of the year. All because of this bill.
A $20 transfer or a few cents made off the sale of a box of ammo are simply not worth the associated no-end date liability to myself because of this legislation.

Maybe so. But there has been a steady decline in FFLs in my county. When I was a kid you could buy guns at Woolworths, Fays, Kmart, a couple of small shops around the county. You could go up to Ithaca Gun on the hill and order anything in their product line in just about any configuration you wanted, not just what was in the catalogue.
When I was a new FFL there were still literally a dozen small tabletop guys like me around the county. Now I'm it, other than one or two 07 FFLs. And from the increase in regulars who drive from surrounding counties, I don't think there is a great flood of people putting out their FFL shingle
I still haven't made up my mind on the timeline; it might not be until the actual FFL is up for renewal in '23...but this bill is really making me think that sooner is better than later.
Maybe someone will step up to fill the void, but in the era of a Biden ATF I don't see them making it any easier for new FFLs either....

I do t blame you one bit. It sucks but I would make the same choice. One lawsuit could ruin you and take all your belongings. I’m guessing this is a part time job and not your main gravy train. One lawsuit could cost you $100,000’s of dollars to defend. I think almost all others will follow your lead. That’s it, it’s over. No more gun sales in NYS.

One would hope. How could it NOT end up at SCOTUS at this point? That dumb, useless AG talks about the feds usurping state's rights but NOWHERE does it talk about the individual's rights. It's not about NY'ers. It's about the NY gov't asserting it's authority upon the world. Cuomo would have made a better Hitler than Hitler.
