Idk about rifles and shotguns but pistol sales wouldn’t be affected here in NY. NYS personally signs off on every pistol sales when they allow it to be added to your permit. A gun store can sell you as many pistols as you want, and you can buy as many pistols as you want, but you can’t take physical possession of each pistol until NYS gives their blessing and adds it to your pistol. If a gun store was to sell someone a pistol and later that person used it in the commission of a crime, all the gun store has to do is point the blame at NYS and say “we didn’t allow them to have that pistol until NYS in writing said it was ok for then to have it, thus NYS has the blame for allowing such a bad person to have that pistol”
