Have plans on building anything this year?

I started 2020 by decking and cutting slide rails for my 9mm Concealed Carry Officers (CCO) 1911.
still have to mill the frame for the Clark/ Para ramped barrel but, it is on its way to being the first gun of 2020 I make.


I am looking to do Sig P320 Build and a few other guns as time permits this year. I really haven't looked at buying a factory gun since buying a Sig P320 Legion last October. I may have to buy a bolt action 22 ( Ruger American w/wood stock) but other than that I am done with factory guns.

Anyone else building something interesting in 2020?

I'm in the middle of a 5.56 build. Nothing fancy. Utilitarian. Just using up some leftover parts.

Would like to do a Glock build.

Right now though focusing more on downsizing and upgrading what I do have.

Look at the poly 80s you can pick up one with the lower parts kit for 150. Then grab a slide/barrel in a caliber of your choosing and be done in about an hour with just hand tools.

I have a enough parts to do a couple of rifles, just haven’t really looked at them since I started doing 1911s last year.

The greensand is a mix of sand, clay and water. I've got a pattern made for the receiver, and tested it out with aluminum. It seems like I got the dimensions right.

All I need is a few hours of free time with cooperating weather so I can make the casting. Then I can start machining!

That sounds like fun. I would have my own milling machine if my boy’s truck didn’t need 4200 dollars worth of work this past November. I did enough overtime October to buy a nice table top mill but, “the best laid plans of mice and men .”

I've got a small Grizzly bench mill and am looking to upgrade. If the ceilings in my garage or workshop were taller, I'd have a Bridgeport type mill, but I just can't figure out how to fit it in there.

I did a few 17 sized 22LRs. I grabbed the 22 conversion kits and built them on the poly 80s, I had to lap the slides to the inserts to get them to function reliably.

@dsdmmat probably not what you meant by "build" but I am planning on kitting out a pistol/small bore range closer to the house that will be easier for me to take the wife out to (she has some health issues that make it hard to walk down the hill to the main range out back). Should make it easier for me to hit a couple of goals for this year - spend more time with the wife, and improve pistol skills/rejoin the monthly Challenges you run.

Would love to take on a 1911 build but don’t have the guts yet. Have parts for rifles in .308, 6.5 Grendel and multiple 5.56/.223s. Gotta dust off the bench.

With more LE per capita than anywhere else it's not bad.

There are locals, state, feds, border patrol.

Plus my place is on top of a mountain, so nobody's going to be trying to sneak through there to get anywhere.

You can have a lot of fun toys in AZ too. I know a doctor there and he has a ton of fun shit.

I've been holding out for a 1:6.5 20" stainless barrel from PSA. I should have jumped on a Geissele trigger when they were on sale a couple of weeks ago. I'm in no rush, as I'm not going to have access to any real distance until spring anyway.

What barrel manufacturers do you like?

I’d like to build a rifle length upper for my existing lower. Probably another .223 Wylde. I’ve been wanting to build a .300 black out pistol as well. More than likely I’ll take the easy route and just build the upper.
