You can build one for 500- 700 bucks. You have to add the cost of the tools and you are over a grand close to 2kTalking about these 1911 builds...

I'm thinking of building a .223 (.556), yes, I do not have one. Just casual search for parts and the .223 Wylde keeps turning up. I haven't looked into it yet. Does this caliber require a separate set of dies? Can standard .223 be fired in this chambering? Is their any real advantage to going in that direction?
I'll start digging in when I get some time, but can someone give me a thumb nail sketch on this caliber?
