Hello Podmonkey. I don't know what do you guys mean by "genuine". I published my real name, I am just a regular videographer wanting to do a project on a topic I think it's interesting... maybe to stop being a regular videographer
I have very clear the reasons why I don't like guns, but I don't know why there are so many people defending them in this country, so I am clearly missing something. I would like to discover that and explain in a video, that's all.
And I am willing to travel... as long as I can get there by bus or train because I don't own a car.

Picture someone in your family that you love, maybe your mother or your father or a girlfriend or a sibling. Now imagine some crazed lunatic is about to rape one of them(God forbid), while his accomplice is standing there with a gun keeping guard. You walk up on them behind the guards back. At that point would you wish you had a gun to save your family member from being assaulted or do you hate guns so much that you would allow your family member to be attacked while you did nothing?

I agree, because it would force someone who has an irrational hate of guns to think about actually having to use one. They would rather live with their head in the sand in a fantasy world where everything is a lollipops and rainbows.

@GOPerfect I like to think I'm a pacifist. It's not that I don't support the US Constitution, I just say that guns should be strongly regulated to avoid them to end up in the wrong hands... I know this may not be the best place to say that though

By not supporting the second amendment, you show that you do not support the constitution or our way of life.

By edition, I just mean to make the interview interesting, and that's different than manipulating or twisting what it's said. The recording can take 2 or 3 hours, but I can't publish all that on youtube or nobody will see it.
I am pretty sure that a stronger control would report in fewer mass shootings in the US, but that doesn't mean that I hate guns. I understand they can be fun, and I would probably have fun shooting. But also I think they are just useful in the right hands.

Actually, more law abiding citizens with firearms would result in fewer mass shootings. BTW, I don't have guns because they are "fun." Life is fun and I have guns to make sure I can keep living.

He comes into our domain. 2nd Amendment support is the basis of this site, and expresses his dismay at the very existence of the amendment and our use and enjoyment of firearms and further how he would take that away from pretty much all of us if he could. Yet, he isn't threatened, nobody has said they want him dead or his family harmed. He hasn't been called a murderous Nazi or told he is racist, bigoted and a woman hater. No one holds him responsible for any genocide (although his home country, Spain, carried out genocide all across Central and South America). How is it that such uneducated, intolerant dolts such as us have treated him fairly well?
Jordi, you should question your allies and their portrayal of us versus the treatment we get at the hands of the "big tent" that the liberals claim to be. We are maligned, threatened, discriminated against and called everything imaginable. We are blamed for all the ails of the world.

Sorry @Celt, I'm getting a bit lost with all the messages. I will answer you:
Yes, I think I should have the right to defend myself, and I think self-defense techniques can be so useful. But I don't see in which case scenario a gun would be helpful to me.
Answering your question, let's say there are 3 attackers in my living room. Would I wish to have a gun? Yes and no. Yes if when I grab mine I discover they don't have one and start running before I kill them. But what if they also have guns (very probable in the US)? Nothing good can come from that situation. I will probably get killed or seriously injured, same with my family. What if I don't have a gun? they would probably just rob us, maybe even hit us, but our lives would not be in so much danger because of the big threat that my gun represents to them.
So you ask me, what would be my method? I would do nothing at all. I would give the attackers what they want because that's what it's proven to be the safest way to go through those situations.
Can I ask you if your gun saved you from some dangerous situation? And even if that happened sometimes, how many innocent people are killed by them every year in comparison?

Are you cognoscente of the fact that many criminals murder their victims so they will not be identified? They fear prosecution as well as death. Crime is also not always about robbery. Sometimes, murder is the only objective. I would rather have a chance at defending my self and my family than to be completely helpless. Unless of course you plan on putting a police car at every corner. You don't have to have a firearm. Just don't tell me I can't.
PS - I drive a car. How many innocents die every year at the hands of drunk drivers? Should I not be allowed to have a car?

There is so much wrong in here I don't know where to start.
1. Here are some scenarios where a gun would be helpful. I posted this before. Obviously you haven't read any. Concealed Nation
2. There are no guarantees in life. You could do everything right yet still the wrong outcome could happen. Are you saying you wouldn't want to give yourself a fighting chance though even with no guarantees? I guarantee you one thing. I know you would have almost zero chance without a firearm.
3. If they run, great. Your firearm saved your life without a shot going off.
4. If they have guns, nothing good can come out of you having one? Again, look here. Concealed Nation
5. Good luck to you if you would just cooperate and do everything an attacker with a gun would ask for. Really, good luck to you.
6. Yes, they could rob you, hit you, rape your wife/daughter, etc. You and I have a different definition of "danger" sir. What makes you think you know what is in the head of a maniac? You don't yet you are willing to bet your life on what you "think." Foolish is being kind.
7. Please post links to your information "proving" complying is the safest way to do things. Go ahead, I'll wait.
8. I have never had to use my firearm in a self defense situation and odds are I never will have to. Do me this favor. Next time you drive, don't use your seat belt. Please remove the fire extinguisher from your residence. Also, anything else you may have to prepare for in case the unthinkable happens kindly get rid of.

How about the concert goers in Las Vegas or any other horrific event? Don't the very events that inspire you to want to confiscate all guns (school shootings) teach you anything? People intent on evil doings/mass murder/rape etc. have no compassion or empathy and are not influenced by your willingness to be passive or submissive. In fact, they depend upon it. Yes a gun saved us from a dangerous situation. I therefore regard your opinion as blatantly wrong and as lunacy formed from naive ignorance. In fact, I regard your efforts, to further limit a god given right guaranteed to me by my constitution, as a threat to me being able to continue to protect my family (the home invasion team was never caught but they did return to wield death threats from the street shortly after law enforcement first left our home). Our lives, situational awareness, and level 2A advocacy were changed forever. I am personally convienced your motives are selfish and I am disgusted by your self rightous arrogance that your touchy touchy feelings are more valuable than my family's life and safety.
If you got off your snowflake seat and looked for yourself, data is readily available to show that American gun ownership has, by orders of magnitude, saved more innocent victims than have taken.

Thanks for your message @carpediem. I am so sorry if I offended you or someone else by my opinions. I know this is not the best place to express them, but it's the place where I had to come to really understand people that support guns. And I'm so grateful that nobody insulted or disrespected me, what tells me that you guys are also good people that just want to be respected.
I'm the last person that would take anything away from you guys, I'm not even a US citizen! I am just trying to understand and explain this topic in a positive way, and if I came to this forum is because I do believe it's possible to do it with respect.
