I choose to respond as if @Jordi Rubio were on the level, though I now belive its a big scam. Regardless, for posterity..........
Twice in my life I have used firearms to defend myself. In both cases the mere sight of the firearm halted my would be attacker and caused a hasty retreat. This type of successful use of arms is never reported because nothing really happened to begin with but it happens eveywhere and everyday. The decision to take up arms for defense is a serious one, one that should not be taken lightly. I see it as a grave responsibility and I accept that the mere ownership of firearms is just one small part of an overall plan of self defense. To that end I seek training with my arms, I spend large amounts of time and resources on the range and I constantly research and read up on the matter. There is however no denying the extreme effectiveness of a firearm for self defense. And chief among fireams is the semi automatic rifle/carbine. A law abiding citizen so armed is a force tok be reckoned with and nigh impossible to victimize. The culture of this Nation has long been founded on self sufficiency and rugged indvidualism, the bearing of arms has always been central to this. Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto once said(Though this admittedly controversial)
"You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind each blade of grass."
Firearms are our heritage and culture, to include arms such as the AR15, the ownership of such is the ultimate expression of liberty. Without liberty life is without meaning.

Thanks for your support. You may want to understand EXACTLY what the US Constitution is before you tell us you support it only to shit on the part you don't understand. If you could understand what I understand and see what I see when reading some of your opinions you probably wouldn't appreciate yourself either.

I guess you read none of my post especially where I said, "Quit while you were ahead." I have had guns in my home since my 17 and 20 year olds were little. I also happen to have a brain. My kids never shot themselves. Again, I refer to seat belts, fire extinguishers, etc.. I would rather have one and never need it than need one and not have it. Why is it so hard for you to understand this. Seriously @Jordi Rubio, again, if you knew what I knew and understood what I understood, you would be getting pretty annoyed already with the ignorance.

Answering your question, let's say there are 3 attackers in my living room. Would I wish to have a gun? Yes and no. Can I ask you if your gun saved you from some dangerous situation? And even if that happened sometimes, how many innocent people are killed by them every year in comparison?

Jordi, if your mother was about to be sexually assaulted by an attacker with a gun(God forbid), and you were able to confront the attacker, would you want a gun to save your mother?

The reality is most people will never be in this situation, but if the unfortunate event happened to occur on your doorstep, would you rather be prepared or not?

And to one of your other points, every year there are approximately 8,000 unjustified murders with guns every year. And every year there are approximately 2 million times where a regular citizen with a gun uses that gun to prevent a violent crime. While it's unfortunate there are 8000 unjustified homicides with guns, the fact that about 2 million people are able to prevent a violent attack every year far outweighs that. Without the guns those people would be statistics themselves.

Now, some other interesting statistics for you.

Drunk drivers kill more people every year than guns do, should we ban cars?

Every year swimming pools kill more children than guns do, should we ban swimming pools?

Every year, more people are electrocuted to death by toaster ovens then they are killed by guns, should we ban toaster ovens?

The United States of America simply would not exist today if common citizens did not have guns.

And lastly, simple Human Nature. Since the beginning of human existence humans have made tools and weapons to give them an advantage at survival. Whether it is a spear a bow and arrow a club or a gun, weapons will always exist and so will evil.

You were raised in a country that taught you guns were bad with very little personal freedom so you were not exposed the same educational processes as most Americans so it's understandable that you are afraid of guns, but that is a learned behavior that goes against human nature and a basic survival Instinct.

Simply put it's unnatural do not want the best weapon possible that would increase your chance of survival.

I'm also in agreement with many on here in the right to defend onesself, and my family. My wife and child know exactly where to go for the hidden firearms in our home when I'm not there. They know why they're there, what they do, and how to use them. I have no worries about my son because he has been EDUCATED AND INSTRUCTED and I can sleep peacefully knowing I don't need to worry about him hurting himself, or others.
Talk to a victim of robbery, assault, or rape, and ask them about "remote chances". Ask them if they expected it to happen. It's the difference between paranoid and prepared. There are millions of legal and law abiding gun owners in America, the VAST majority of which have no desire to ever point that weapon at another human being. I'm certain you've even been in the same room with some who conceal carry, and never know it. Are they the people that keep you up at night?

Although our right to defend ourself is absolute and unrelated to statistical probability, the frequency of home invasions is shocking. Department of Justice data indicates well over one-quarter million homeowners are injured during reported violent home invasions every year. This data does not include invasions that are not reported (e.g drug related, gang related, fearful to report, etc). Data from home security companies cite more than triple that annual frequency.

Since you are worried " to have a gun home, knowing that some of my kids can grab it and kill himself or someone else" and you are not a hypocrite disrespecting members of this fine forum can you confirm you have no other potentially dangerous tool in your home? Let's say no knives, no household chemicals, no prescription drugs, no matches, no gas stoves, no water filled toilet bowls, no hammers, no rope / cord / belts / shoelaces, no flammables etc knowing that some of your kids can grab it and kill himself or someone else? If your business is successful can you confirm ypu will never own a car or a home with access to a swimming pool since they are statistically much more dangerous than a firearm? Or are you responsible in how these items are secured, where they are stored, and your son understands that these tools can be dangerous with real consequences?

I hope neither of us are ever in a situation where our lives are in danger. Now, if the unthinkable does happen, you can choose to be defenseless and I'll choose to exercise my 2nd Amendment rights. We'll compare notes if either of us survive. If we both make it, I give you permission to say, "I told you so." You will never understand I'm afraid so do me a favor. Don't try to placate me by saying, "It's not that I don't support the US Constitution" in one breath and tell me "I don't support firearms possession myself" and "to me is shocking that you consider the right of owning a tool that it's just useful for killing people, more important than the right of feeling safe in your community" in another. Although there are higher gun death rates in the United States compared to 21 wealthy countries, your reference was debunked as exaggerated (by 250%). Sorry, I smell insincerity. It should be noted that gun deaths here are mostly suicides and inner city gang violence and the root causes of these regrettable casualities are unrelated to 2A rights.

It is easier to gun proof a kid than it is to kid proof a gun. Guns have been in my family since they arrived Ellis island. There are plenty of kids in the family that have grown up around guns and none of them have ever killed themselves with them. You know why? The first thing they were taught is to respect life, the next thing they were taught was to respect firearms. I too have used firearms to defend my self and my family. I have yet to have to Fire a shot but, I was prepared to do so in the defense of the only people that count.

Having a child is no different than having a gun, both take a lot of personal responsibility, accountability and a level of maturity.

Others have already addressed it but there are plenty of ways to keep Firearms safe in the home. I have 3 young children and they have no access to any guns.

And, its better to have a gun and not need it then to need a gun and not have it.
