Help me decide on an AR build direction

I dug the A2 in my Army days. I think its cheap enough to give it a whirl. NYGF lower & upper build comes first though.

The A2 barrel profile is just absurd though. I refuse to believe that the most powerful nation on earth cannot make 2 different sizes of gas block.

It is what it is. I've always done alright by it both in the Army and now in my Daniel Defense. Next build gets a light weight profile though.

Why didn't they just make a one piece lower with the traditional buffer tube so it could take any butt stock you want to put on it?

You think so? It's still one piece. If you made the point of stress as robust as the one on the A2 stock I don't see why it wouldn't hold up.

Maybe, but I'm fine with the A2, I like the A2. Collapsing stocks are not that big a deal to me.

Why not a LaRue Stealth 14.5" upper with pinned muzzle device. It will serve both purposes. Super accurate, door kicker that will be as accurate or more than a spr. Otherwise the LaRue 18" stealth upper for spr. I have both the Noveske 14.5" Afghan and the 14.5" LaRue and they shoot as well or better than my Noveske and LWRC SPR. You can run an Aimpoint PRO with a magnifier....

Because I ordered a matching upper for the NYGF lower group buy? Don't worry I'll be outfitting it to the 9s. Daniel Defense barrel, Centurion rail, LWRC bolt carrier, LMT enhanced bolt, trigger dunno yet. For the Door Kicker proly another Hiperfire EDT cause I like it.

My Daniel Defense seems to do quite well also. Freaking love it!

I have a LMT enhanced bolt...not overly impressed. I ran a M16A2 with a M4 LMT upper custom made for me by LMT. It ran just fine with both standard and enhanced. My LWRC's are piston's. My PWS Mk 114 has been flawless but not the most accurate.

For a light, handy close range carbine? I am well pleased with the $90 EDT I have on the DD. I prefer a single stage trigger for such guns, makes double taps/rapid fire easier and more precise.

If I did an SPR I would like to do a clone of that but the handguard/riser rail combo is very expensive. Plus I'd like to try that GWACS polymer lower out.

Whats the pull weight? I consider 4.5lbs the minimum for a duty gun. Also you didn't find the extra extraction power of the LMT enhanced bolt to be necessary?

Pull is at 4poubds I could digitally check mine. They advertise 4 pounds. No I didn't find the enhanced bolt doing any better than all the other bolts I have used. It's didn't do worse
They all functioned well for me. Ymmv

They functioned very well in my 14.5" carbides and M4. They have dual extractor Springs. I think they were designed for the 14.5 and for over gassed carbines. They do clean up nice.

Well the O ring trick has always worked well for me too. Maybe I should just get the whole LWRC bcg and O ring and heavy spring it. I want some better than mil spec zazz in the rifle one way or another.

I don't think it incurs any tremendous advantage over a properly staked key but I think the integral gas key on the LWRC carrier is pretty damn cool.
