Had one year's ago sold it would like to get another one day only problem was with ammo some are picky with certain brands

I have a couple of them. I've not found the Henry AR-7's to be picky regarding ammunition. I only use the Henry magazines and I've never had a problem. I actually prefer the AR-7's over the take-down 10/22's, they're a lot of fun to shoot. The older AR-7's did have issues with ammunition. Henry has refined the design. It's a great gun for teaching children to shoot, because it is so light and negligible recoil.

I have one and it's lots of fun to shoot. Also is very compact and easily fits into a day pack. Remember to use only Henry mags. You should use only high velocity 22's or else it may not cycle. It loves CCI mini mags.
For a lightweight pack gun it's probably the best option out there. For general plinking or small game there are better choices as I don't think it has the durability for routine high volume shooting. I don't own one but I did put about 100 rounds through a Henry one once. It does indeed seem that the Henry versions have fixed most of the problems found in previous models.

Had one, getting another soon. Not the most accurate, but a great pack gun. No problem with mini mags.
I have an older Charter Arms AR-7 that I purchased around 1983 or so. I probably only shot a couple of hundred rounds through it and I can't recall it malfunctioning. Accuracy was much better than I anticipated but you won't be winning any shooting matches with it.
It is a survival rifle. It breaks down and sets up easily and quickly. Fits in an over night bag or a day pack very easily. I like it.
Having said that I haven't shot mine in close to 30 years. It sits in the bottom of my gun safe.

In the thread Darth linked lots of people compared this to a ruger with folding stock. I think they completely miss the point of this thing. It is very small, it is very light. Its buoyancy I see no practical benefit to (wouldn't it be in your pack? And it won't float when assembled), but it is waterproof when packed and the engineering is very nifty for its particular requirement of being compact.
I'd like to have one just because it's a cool device, but $200-250 is a bit much for me.

The old AR-7 magazine ads did show pics of the rifle floating assembled. Buttstock up, muzzle facing down. As a matter of fact there is a pretty good article in this month's "American Rifleman" that has that old ad in the article. It's an excellent read and details the rifles history.
