Just read the above-linked Denninger article this morning. He can get a bit rant-y and I needed to slow myself down to get what he's saying, but it aligns with what I'm suggesting initially with more depth into causes. It's a long read, but worth it IMO.

Just read it and agree with it.

Here's the problem, nothing will change. I have 0.0% confidence out politicians can actually agree to fix it and put the country ahead of themselves and parties.

Our debt and bloated budget has gotten this way because our deceitful greedy politicians over generations have put their careers ahead of our futures. They have whored out our national treasure and conditioned people to be dependent upon the government for their survival which equates to their being re-elected and their party's continual growth.

There are not enough people in this country to go against Santa claus. Every day, month and year the balance shifts farther to the left of more social and medical program spending as the left continues to bloat the budget.

I think it's more likely our country actually elects full out communists that it is we sincerely address the budget. When the budget begins to become unsustainable they will claim (as they always do) they need more control over it and that's when it starts.

Great thread... My bet is the continued slow decline in our quality of life punctuated by recessions and regional unrest. Cheap energy is key to growth and that ship has sailed.

I keep hearing about how great our economy is doing, seems like it depends where you live and what your job is. I'm starting to think that many of the folks hit hard from the last collapse are now self-employed and trying to get by. From my point of view there has never been a recovery from the 08 collapse unless you work for the government or one of it's contractors.

Interest rates NEED to go up IMO..anyone keeping their cash in the banks these days is losing money. The markets recently lost all gains seen in 2018..so much for the the average joe's 401K gaining any wealth this year. We've also inched past the 100% GDP to Debt ratio.

2 major blue chips (GM and GE) are apparently in trouble. GE stock continues to plummet and there are major concerns about their survival as a company. GM just announced major layoffs and factory closures.


Is it just an example of 2 badly managed companies, or an indication of upcoming economic troubles?

All it is, is the economy correcting itself from when turd nugget bailed everyone out.

Maybe we should go back to the old Tribe/ Village system.
This is the system that humans know best and served us well for millions of years.
