Anybody ever see/use/hear about this stuff?
It marketed as a quick fix for stoppages for the range/competition/training.

Now? Hell, I’ve been using hoppe’s as cologne for 40 years.I didn't realize people were using Hoppe's as cologne now.

60% of the time it works every time. How successful was it? Should we change the name from Hoppe’s to “Tigersex” or something?
I do use Mobil 1 high temp bearing grease in small amounts on the wear surfaces of my firearms. Why not just use Mobil One 5w20 or 30 and be done with it? It's cheaper and holds up better at extreme temperatures anyway than all these expensive snake oils.
Aren't nearly all lubricants also solvents? Hence they are "CLPs?"I do use Mobil 1 high temp bearing grease in small amounts on the wear surfaces of my firearms.
As for the gun medic stuff I'm just curious as to the efficacy of combining a solvent of some kind with a lubricant. And also I do not belive that the solvent used here is the No. 9 stuff as the bottle claims its a non toxic "bio formula" which No. 9 is not.
Regardless a substance that I can spritz under pressure into tge nooks and crannies of my AR as a quick remedy for cycling woes is appealing to me. Nit yhat my AR has issues in that regard. The opposite in fact, I have been quite impressed with its dependability. But I'm always curious about new products.
Motor oil isn't. There are detergents in it but its not quitevthe same.Aren't nearly all lubricants also solvents? Hence they are "CLPs?"
I use Ballistol for everything.
It didn't seem "exotic" to me. I'll be back in there for something or other, I'll check the price of it. Love Fleet Farm.Do you really need to buy exotic sprays to get your AR to function? CLP is all that one needs. If you don't have time to clean your AR as you should, just put a few drops of CLP into 4 visible holes in bolt & carrier and cycle the charging handle a few times.
It cleans the carbon off my guns. In fact, it prevents the carbon from sticking to the metal. Have you ever had to scrape carbon off of a bolt and bolt carrier? I've never had to do that since using motor oil.Motor oil isn't. There are detergents in it but its not quitevthe same.

Also after 1k+ rounds there gets to be a fair amount of carbony, oily gunk in the gun, I just thought it might be convenient to have a product that knocks some of that down whike leaving an oil film in the same squirt. If that could really work that is. Not sure howba solvent can not strip the oil off when its all in the same bottle.
You must be very young not to have known about eau de Hoppe's No. 9.I didn't realize people were using Hoppe's as cologne now.
I just wipe every thing down with patches/rags soaked in Hoppe's #9. Then I re-oil, re-grease.It cleans the carbon off my guns. In fact, it prevents the carbon from sticking to the metal. Me too, but I do nothing beyond maybe squirting a little CLP in the action during a session, which as I have noted often consists of 1k strings, portions of which are done rapid fire. My gun gets pretty sludgy towards the end of the day.I clean after every outing. The military made me OCD like that.
I fail to see how that would be the Hoppe's fault. Did you re lube it after you used it? Hoppes is a cleaning solvent, ot strips oil and grease, it doesn't lubricate or offer corrosion protection.I haven't used Hoppes since my Ithaca 37 jammed up one winter when I took a shot at a doe, racked through the whole tube before the last fired. When I got home and the temp came up the 37 functioned fine. It might have been just a fluke but the gun was clean and with bottom eject snow can't get in it. I haven't used the stuff since. Since someone brought up using Mobile 1 a long time ago I've used it on everything and noticed my guns do indeed stay cleaner. No problems cleaning crud or carbon off anything.
It's available everywhere and cheap compared to many gun cleaning/lube products and goes a long way.
