aren't We already in compliance in NY-a-stan ? Plus this only affects law abiding citizens......Why not EXTREMELY harsh punishment for people carrying handguns in NY without a permit? Damn, some days it's 3 o'clock owb, others it's 4 o'clock iwb. Some guns are pocket one day but ankle the next. If I'm wearing a sport coat it could be appendix or shoulder harness.
Rifles could be rotating between any number of lakes in various free states.
I have gunsafes in five different states and lockers in some free state ranges too.
Such a clerical nightmare.

Makes no difference if this violates the Constitution. Let us say this is passed and signed into law. We can all agree that we may think that this is a direct violation of the Second Amendment. What we all think and feel about the Constitutionality of it makes zero difference.
Just like the SAFE Act, sure, we can all think and say the Act is in direct violation of the 2A, in our hearts and our minds we can think it and feel it; makes not a bit of difference what we all think and feel.
These laws are only un-Constituional if the Courts say so. If they never rule on something like this, it stays law.
So, again, let us say this is passed and signed into law.....
A group of lawyers decide to file a case, it gets all of the way to SCOTUS, first, how long does it take to get there? Is there a guarantee that the Court will rule correctly? Even if they do rule correctly, how many people are going to be without their Rights in the meantime?
The depression thing, this one really bothers me, a lot. I have many Vet friends that have some serious PTSD, depression is high on the list of symptoms. You gonna forbid all of these Vets from gun ownership? New moms, high percentage get the Postpartum Depression; gonna forbid of them as well?
As for the alcohol, who determines how many drinks are too many? Brain cancer is a type of brain disease. Epilepsy and other Seizure Disorders? Yep, brain disease. This list is actually quite long.

With the first link, the chain is forged. The first speech censured, the first thought forbidden, the first freedom denied, chains us all irrevocably. Thise words are wisdom and warning. The first time any man's freedom is trodden on, we're all damaged. I fear that today, I fear that we are witnessing the chain being broken forever and we are helpless.
My most likely scenario for another civil war is when gun laws like this are passed and a couple of states openly defy it as second amendment sanctuaries. And then because these states are classified as havens for domestic terrorists the national guard or regular army is sent in.

From a selfish standpoint, it would be best for us here in NY if this passes. Its essentially a Federal SAFE Act. This is the only way we will get the rest of free America to stop laughing at us and instead be forced to join the fight. SCOTUS cannot ignore the 2A forever. The biggest hurdle now is will Biden actually pack the court.

Our problem is that Republicans in the current GOP are mostly weak, spineless, go-along-to-get-along, politicians. They avoid conflict at the expense of our rights.
The Republicans will do what they always do and use the Liberal Leftist proposal as the starting point. THAT is a mistake. The true starting point should be: National constitutional carry, repeal of the NFA, repeal of the GCA, and major new restrictions on the BATFE. Then, and only then, can any kind of "compromise" be reached.

I'll be honest I think this will likely not pass federally, but it may pass as an upgraded SAFE Act. Who knows.
If they give people more trouble on the SAFE act, my wife's uncle is in TX. He agreed to take the guns, and I'd legally transfer them to him via 4473 so there would be zero ambiguity laws wise. He'd own them, till I could get down there or to PA.
