House passes gun control Bill – 21 & over for ARs/10 round capacity

“Age is arbitrary” this sounds like the beginning of an argument that ends with the Paedophile manifesto. You either think 18 yr olds (in general) can drink responsibly, vote responsibly, handle weapons responsibly, or you don’t. I happen to be of the opinion that generally speaking, age is a pretty good indicator of whether a person is ready to do certain things. They don’t take 18 yr olds in the police academy for a reason. They’re generally still kids in the head.. Why this is blasphemy, I do not understand?

The military took me along with several other thousand the same day.
18 year old do great given responsibility and direction so everything depends on who one really is as a person.
Of course there are going to be jokes and things appropriate for that age but this doesnt mean they cannot be trusted with considerable responsibility and sense of duty.
This idea that at 21 something magical happens is absurd.
What I would like to know is why so many 30,40and 50+ year olds who are irresponsible crazy fucks should just get a pass because a date written on a paper somewhere.
A lot of liberals young, mid age and old are really screwed in the head and we also have a fair share of conservatives that cannot be trusted with anything serious.
Ask yourself why Asian kids have the highest rate of hs and college graduations and scholarships vs other groups with almost no drop outs? It cannot be age, they all are in the same age groups.
The same people who are telling an 18yr old might be too young to handle a firearm say it is ok for a 8 year old to decide his/her gender and perhaps even request to be mutilated for life in the process.

My apologies you are correct. One time when I was 19 I was in an airport, I think it was texas and the only place you could smoke was in a bar. They would only let you in under 21 if you were military. This is what led to my assumption. Kind of stupid that you can die in combat but can’t have a drink if you make it home alive.

Hey just wondering what you guys think about this? Didn’t see a thread on it yet. My infantry guys always say if you can’t get it done in 10 then you can’t get it done at all. So I don’t think this does much to gun owners other than make the outdoor range a little bit less fun-more reloading.

I also feel it doesn’t go nearly far enough. 18/19 yr olds in today’s day and age are fuckin babies. Don’t remember the last time I met an 18 yr old that wasn’t a nerd and had their shit together. You want to know why 18/19 year olds are babies? Their parents made them that way by coddling them, giving them participation awards, and generally treating them like babies. Do you think that 18/19 year olds were babies a hundred years ago or even 50? They were brought up having responsibilities. They took care of chickens, dogs, fields, sold papers, etc. They were expected to be responsible, and they responded accordingly- by being responsible. My kids are 6 and 9. Guess what. They have responsibilities. They are required to help around the house, do their schoolwork, help in the garden, etc. If they fail at those tasks, they are redirected/retaught/punished accordingly. Also, I refuse to let someone else teach my kids. Public school is an incubator for creating incompetent, uneducated drones that toe the line of the current CNN trend. Do NOT project other peoples poor parenting on me.

I lol whenever I hear about the police or militaries "extensive training." I'm willing to bet that most gun owners train and put more rounds downrange than most police. Also outside of basic training, how much of the military is "extensively trained" in combat?

I’m active on the Calguns forum and I donate to their causes to help fight unconstitutional gun laws in their state. Why? Because I know if they don’t fight it there that it will come to where I live no matter where I live. To think “it can’t happen here” simply because one has moved to a free state is but a fallacy. If no one stays to fight the cancer, then the cancer will spread. What will happen when there are no more free states to run to?

Okay, I'm sorry for being so hostile. I guess I missunderstood what your angle was. Like I said before though, while you are right that once federal laws come down, there won't be anywhere to move to, you forget that each state is like it's own country. Even with federal laws, it helps having state and local governement that supports your rights in the face of federal overreach. I think conservatives need to take a page out of the liberal play book by moving to affect change. Only in our case, we are moving to strengthen places not weaken them. Liberals move to new states because their policies destroy otherwise good places. Only they perpetuate the same failed ideas and ruin place after place. We move to fortify and conserve what is already good. My vote did nothing in NY and yours won't either. Not at least until a lot of things change.
