How can NY Gun Owners of different backgrounds and priorities better advance gun rights?

As for doing anything to help the gun rights cause here in NY, forget it. NY is lost AFAIC. Der Furher Cuomo gonna be Governor till he dies, then he'll be replaced with another liberal extremist. When the majority of gun owners refuse to get off their dead asses to vote to save what little 2a rights we have left, nothing changes. NYC has us by the balls.

So, if I understand what most on this particular thread seem to be implying, it’s that NYS is a lost cause?

It would be better for me to focus my resources as an individual, & proactively look to move to a “free state” ASAP?

The “Free State” chosen should be a calculated decision, where it hopefully won’t turn into NYS as fast as Virginia did?

That I should look to “enjoy myself” in that “Free State” for as long as I can before the USA turns into New Zealand?

Once that happens, make sure I get into a serious boating accident?

So, absolutely nothing that can be practically done in NYS to advance the “cause”?

From what I gather the sheriff is supreme law of his given county. If he arrests someone within constitutional law, all is good. A trooper breaking his oath arresting someone has no lawful justification. Cuomo has his own bought and paid for sanctuary counties, ie. Alb Co.

If the Libertarian candidate got in there, he may still believe in background checks and pistol permits. Will you not vote for him because of that?

There is no candidate out there that will represent anyone 100 percent. None because we are all different and have different priorities.

So every Conservative and Libertarian American can write in a combination of names like Superman and Wonder Woman on the ballot because no one represents them 100 percent for their own satisfaction while the Democratic Party keeps winning every election while passing laws that increase the minimum wage, reduce private property rights, etc. All things that effect us every day that we complain about here.

Voting your conscience instead of “but I want the win in this cycle” is actually the long game. You haven’t disputed my point that if the Republican and Democratic primaries were held on Election Day, Trump would still be President because the same majority of people that voted for him to win the primary and the same majority of people that voted for Hillary to win would still vote for both.

The only difference is that Bernie voters for example now voted for one Hillary and Rand Paul voters for example now voted for Trump.

It would still be like this for example.

45 percent Trump.
30 percent Kasich.
20 percent Bush.
5 percent Carlson.

40 percent Hillary
30 percent Sanders
15 percent whoever.
15 percent whoever.

Narrowing it down to 2 just streamlines the process to make it easier to get a quicker final result.

About the only difference is which is a big negative is that Trump may have lost Texas to Cruz for example giving the majority by a hair to Hillary in the Electoral College votes.

That’s why this system is better because it decreases fracturing.

If the other parties focused first on building a base with actual candidates winning in local and county elections they would become viable. I don’t mean endorsing an r or d I mean stand alone straight up on their line. I understand the ballot access issues but if you spend all your time, energy and money running often questionable candidates for the top spots your never going to be taken seriously. If you have good local and county level candidates getting the signatures for ballot access shouldn’t be a problem.

Call it a strategic withdrawal.

NY is a lost cause, for a lot more reasons than just gun rights. I've lived here nearly my whole life, I love the area I live in, but the writing is on the wall.

When the ship is going down, staying on it because the other ship next door looks a little sketchy too is not a great plan.

Just because you recognize the trap that has been laid for us doesn't mean you can escape it.

The 2 party system is very carefully constructed, and very robust. You can't just break it by voting 3rd party.

Even if you were able to get your favored party to start winning elections regularly, it would only be because one of the other 2 parties collapsed.

Then all the people from that collapsed party would infiltrate the "new" 2 party system and you'd be right back where you came from.

You will have much better long term success getting policies you approve of implemented from inside the existing parties than you will trying to support a new one.

In fact, you would be more likely to advance your cause by supporting a 3rd party on the opposite side of the spectrum, than one closely aligned with your beliefs.

AZ is where we are headed, for multiple reasons that may not apply to others here (I have family there).

I plan to cast my vote in the 2020 election there, not NY.

The problem is that it isn't only conservatives who recognize that NY, CA, etc are sinking ships. The rats are leaving too, and bringing the plague with them.

Any other state just buys some time. Unless there is a major shift they will all succumb sooner or later. But later is better than sooner, and it gives you better odds that things can be turned around before it gets ugly.

I just hope that the collapse of NY or CA wakes enough people up that we can change direction before AZ is too far gone as well.
