Something like this but lightweight with ergonomic attachment points that takes 5.56 stripper clips. Ignore the Tapco mag.

You are telling me that it wouldn't be hot seller in the free states?

At $300 you wouldn't be able to keep them on the shelf.

At $1200 there are much better options.

What do you think you can manufacture them for ?

I'm just responding to your posts. No defensiveness here. Read back. You may find a post and like here and there that you said didn't exist.

No single manufacturer has created an SKS type magazine system because people fix magazines that aren't meant to be fixed on rifles that aren't meant to be fixed. But if a complete rifle was sold that way, it would be another matter entirely.

Anyway, I thought I would have a discussion about guns where people can give their ideas. Stupid me. I thought you were over this nonsense. Guess not.

Wouldn't it be easier to build a special purpose AR "fixed magazine" than a whole new rifle ?

Maybe something with the features you want ?

A quick release captive spring and baseplate, that shouldn't be too hard.

Maybe even some trap door contraption that let's you load it with stripper clips from the bottom then slap the baseplate and spring home.

I'm kinda getting an idea actually, would be pretty cool.

A "new" standard sks is still a hard sell in these states.

Complaint ars can still be done around $500 ish.

A mini-14 already kinda had the market cornered on the hunting looking compliant rifle.

This is the build I'm working on now. Sks in a sgworks stock. Fixed mag, loaded with stripper clips, and 26" oal. It's actually going to be smaller than my ar pistol. I'll have about $500 into it without optic.

You may be waiting a while. Sgworks typically has pretty bad customer support, and is way behind on orders and shipping. I might get it in 4 months, it might be over a year. I'll play the waiting game though, by all reports it's a quality stock. Then it has to be hand fitted to gun, and hopefully by that time, ammo will be back in stock. This will be my first foray into 7.62x39.

I’d consider the Ruger Mini 30 Ranch as close to an SKS as you need in an American rifle.

The more I work with the 7.62x39 cartridge with by Ruger American Ranch bolt gun, the more I’m sold on how really versatile the 223 and 556 really is by comparison in a battle rifle.

I think the only appeal of an sks is that of a classic battle rifle. An American made knock-off has no appeal for me.
