Be forewarned, this is a very pro-gun control article. The cliff notes version is that the Japanese have always had tight gun control in their country and tightened it considerably after the war with the process of pacification (read: pussification) of the whole nation. In short, the government has a monopoly on violence and we all know where that leads. Look only to Japan during the Second World War to see what happens when dictatorship takes control of a country.

In a way it's sad really. The Japanese by and large have a very noble culture in my opinion and their history of martial arts and the philosophy that surrounds it is very appealing. Furthermore, one of my favorite movies is The Seven Samurai (the American version became the Magnificent Seven). Basic premise of the movie: a defenseless village with NO arms to defend themselves is mercilessly raided by bandits. It's only until they hire seven samurai (with swords and bows aka ARMS) are they able to achieve peace. You need ARMS in order to defend yourself and your property against bandits, both the mobile (think criminals) and the stationary (think the government).

The Japanese have essentially no access to firearms, but, they also have a very homogeneous culture (hell, they don’t like Americans trying to become citizens, much less immigrants from third world nations). Because of this there is a deeper sense of kinship, and you also don’t have Chicago level murder rates. Japan is very nationalistic and there is generally a culture of respect, education and devotion; basically the moral fiber hasn’t unraveled like it has in the US and most western nations.

I doubt they would have much in the way of gun crime or mass shootings even if they had a 2A. Look at how the yakuza operate. The last big gang war in the 80s involved guns and explosives but they went out of their way to only kill each other. Eventually they accidentally killed a few non gang members and that’s when the cops got heavily involved and forced the two groups to declare a public truce. They aren’t good guys by any stretch, but the yakuza are far better than our criminals.

Of course that’s not to say Japan doesn’t have problems. Their birth rate is declining, young men are not getting jobs or getting married (they’re called “NEETs”), and the companies work their employees like slaves (they have near daily ”optional“ after work morale events, drinking, etc. that aren't really optional if you want to keep your job or move up).

I‘ve always had a great deal of respect for the Japanese. They take a lot of pride in their work and hold themselves to very high standards, kind of like a lot of law abiding gun owners I’ve met here in the US.

Safe living conditions begins with Demographics! Period.

Look at the safest towns, cities and Countries.... The safest places are those that the demographics are not diverse.

Look the kinds of people that live in an area and you can guess the level of crime.

I think there's some confusion of diversity versus refusal to assimilate... Ethnic and ancestral diversity is not typically problematic for populations where incoming people of different backgrounds assimilate into their new society. The UK is pretty diverse, and I'm not talking about their wholesale importation of troubled people groups lately. Picts, Scots, Gaels, Franks, Normans, and so on. The problems seem to stem more from the societies who carve out little enclaves for themselves, refuse to adopt the prevailing culture, and retain their original customs especially where those customs are antithetical to or illegal in, their new environment. See Somali neighborhoods in Minnesota, for an example.

More to the original thread title...I think Japan has less gun crime because they don't have Democrats, as defined by the stellar examples in the US system. You know, the ones who fund social unrest (ie. Soros, Bloomberg, and friends) or directly engage in mass shootings, firebombings, looting and riots, like assorted shooters, antifa and the like.

I don't give a flying fuck about Japan. Great, they have a unique society because they are AN ISLAND, and a culture that has always been controlled by Government, Royalty. When your society believes your leader is a God, the people have no options. The Royal have total control, and have had total control for CENTURIES.

I noticed they skimmed over the fact anyone can be stopped and questioned have to supply ID and can be searched based on suspicion "shokumu shitsumon" Japans version of a Terry Stop, I wouldn't be suprised if its where it was adopted from. I would tend to agree with you, except I have a couple of customers from Denmark. They are naturalized American citizens, they told me they use to go back every summer to visit family, but they won't go back anymore because there are far to many Muslims. No female goes out without a male escort, preferably two. Both these ladies are in their 80's.

Absolutely true. Many Muzzies these days. They, the Danes, are starting to learn from their mistakes. The government has begun to change their open rules. More are being removed from their country than are allowed in. Give it 3-5 years, Denmark will be free again.

Japan has a rigidly conformist society. I would go mad in such a restrictive environment.
Our nation has the highest rate of civilian gun ownership of any nation in the world by an orders of magnitude higher margin, we have a 50% rate of ownership officially, I'm sure that figure is higher in reality. The next most armed nation doesn't even break out of the teens I don't think. Yet our murder rate is middiling among developed nations, our suburban and rural crime rate as a whole is below average. The Japanese citizen is a sheep, tgey do what they are told and they don't question it, they live boring, sad little lives of servitude and they are so dull they are fibe with that. Americans are individualists, we chaff under authority and we don't like being told what to do yet we are not a violent people. Asian cultures however will ritualize cutting your throat in the name of honor.
Gun control is an impediment to personal liberty, tge denial of personal liberty is evil. Our country, along with our private ownership of arms, is unique in the world and we have risen to supremacy because if it.
It is foolish for us to look to other nations on how to order our society. We have always gone our own way and have propered by that, the more we emulate others the more we falter. We have it right, we are a nation of cooperative individuals, the other nations are conglomerations of cattle.
