I've said this for years starting way back in the early 90's. This is exactly how I would handle it. But it is not without constitutional issues. Back then those issues were the greatest hurdle I could come up with. That said, we all see how the SCOTUS decisions are essentially ignored. So that hurdle is removed.
If it happens, citizens can just go ahead and manufacture arms. This is clearly in line with the constitution but would present a problem resulting in many arrests and trials and period where no new arms are being manufactured.
Another and easier way would be to regulate any and all ammunition manufactures out of existence. Today that is on the table as well.

I often times get nervous that it will be to the point where I can't get primers and brass. Well, brass can be made by turning it if need be.... but making primers is difficult if damn near impossible for the average person.
I have reloaded 22lr, but man does it take patience and it's obnoxiously slow. But doable.

Yes limiting or controlling powder, primers, bullets and heads is also being talked about and has been for years now. Most of the legislation never even getting to committee. But that's changing now.
They don't need to do much. Although there are over 400 million firearms in the U.S. they're likely held by less than 1/3 of the country and that is a very generous number. Still a very significant number but legislatively not a concern. That's unfortunate. I'm looking at you FUDS. lol

Here in NY, the post Bruen State reaction can only be construed as malfeasance towards those exercising 2A Rights! Anyways...
So as much as they'll try to create the impression that the end (2A) is near... It's actually blossoming elsewhere! Thing is this... Will you at some point in your life relocate to gravitate to a place where the laws there resonate with your beliefs!? The country was founded in this happening for Religious reasoning, and now, the great migration and resettling of those living here may be taking place due to States Laws and Constitutional transgressions by those seeking to seize and keep powers not bestowed upon them by the Constitution, whether it be Federal or States...
So Firearm manufacturing, Ammunition, Parts and Accessories... Aren't going anywhere!

How I anticipate it might happen will be similar to COVID. They will use incentives and scare tactics on the lemmings.
Remember when folks were getting arrested and harassed for having a few friends over on their OWN PROPERTY?

Governments have vulnerabilities, they rely on people to execute orders. Those people all have their own vulnerabilities and beliefs. Our governments strength is also its vulnerability. Those serving in the government who tend to believe in freedom out number the ones believe in absolute power.

Unfortunately, I believe your assessment is accurate. Even IF most offer resistance you will succumb to overwhelming force. Trust me I use to work on these military drone systems similar to ISTAR ( Intelligence, Surveillance, Target acquisition, and Reconnaissance ) and they will take you out in short order with no casualties to themselves. Unless you are in a situation where you have numbers and support - when they are ready to take your weapons they will.

Drones have pilots, mechanics and armament techs, they all have families, therefore the weapon system has a weak link in the system. Until AI takes over piloting, maintaining and arming the drone, they are able to be defeated.

To take the guns would require that citizens simply turn them in or be killed and or starved out.
It is physically impossible to get enough troops to get the guns and have anything left..while 7 on your street might surrender the other 9 on 5 nearby streets will kill every sob of a bitch possible and take their weapons.
We have 5 million in the military and one million cops of all stripes and Biden would need CCP help and the chinese are pussies who have no tradition of fighting since their great gandfathers met the US Marines.
Based upon Jan 6th and the last elections,, 25 million might want to kill kill kill every gun grabbing sob on the planet while the other 1hundred million kind of cheer from the sidelines.

One possible way might be through the digital dollar . If you have 4473s on record you might be ordered to turn over your guns or your assets will be frozen. Eventually your house and property will be turned over to the banks. You will receive no pay from work , nor can you access your bank account, Your family and kids will go hungry, the digital dollar will be type of slavery . It doesn't have to be done by force of arms
Well the ones imposing these orders and enforcing them had better live somewhere else besides my backyard as they do today. They will be the first ones for a visit by people impacted by it. Joe Cop or Politician John might piss off their own family members and friends wanting answers as they too get disarmed! Do you think that Joe cop who lives in one County is going to be OK with say his Dad who is not a cop getting his house swatted in another County? Ain't happening! Well, that's just it. Just before I retired they were finalizing a system where AI made the decision as to whether the target was a threat and if lethal force was appropriate. Prior to that, a human was the final arbiter in make that decision. That was no longer a variable.
That project was a few years ago.

The real kicker is when AI is used to target not just who is a current threat but who will become a threat in 6 months, a year, or two years down the road.
One of the things I remember reading about stalin was he knew who was going to be his enemy in the future. That is, he knew what he wanted to do years down the road and figured out which of his current loyal underlings were going to resist him.
