Hunter Safety Class not required to purchase a rifle or shotgun

I was just wondering....If Herr Cuomo is so concerned about gun safety, why does NY State require you to complete a hunter safety class in order to purchase a hunting license, but there is no firearm safety class required to purchase a long gun. Just seems odd to me, especially since the majority of firearm realted shooting accidents are not hunting related. Not looking for an argument. Thank you.

Ask yourself this question, why would a mother raising kids in a bad part of town need a “hunting safety course” to buy a home defense shotgun to protect her home?
Why would a military surplus collector need a hunting licence safety course to collect military rifles?
The 2nd amendment has nothing to do with hunting!

You are preaching to the choir in regard to pistol permits. Arguably all permits are ridiculous. For instance i find it egregious that you need a permit to exercise your first amendment rights (protest/gathering permits). You need a permit to build structures on your own property. All of this is government infringement IMO.
Pistol permits have been challenged in court but using the judicial branch is a roll of the dice. We rolled snake eyes in regard to judges during these challenges. Doesn’t mean we support said licensing

So what do you propose?? I doubt we will ever have to go through an approval board to purchase ammo. Maybe restrictions, but not i from of an approval or review board.

Also your original statement says it seems backwards that we don’t need a permit to purchase riffle or shotguns and we do for hunting or pistols. Your statement/question wasn’t clear.
