I got a Father's Day .45 1911

For some reason, I've just wanted one for a while. The P30 is technically my brother's from when he lived in VA, and he never got his permit up here, and I don't suspect he will. If he ever took it back though, I want another/my own full size to carry owb.

I'm looking for used or new, but not anything more than $500 I think. I'll pay a little over for one, but I've been really intrigued by Rock Island's offerings for a while. I've seen these used/new in this general price range.

Rock Island M1911-A1 TACTICAL II 45ACP 5

I really like the black w/ the textured looking grips, sight, and combat trigger (I think?) but a chrome/stainless one w/ wooden handles look pretty decent too, but they're a bit more expensive. The wood on black is the cheapest, but I kinda feel like I want to spice it up a bit, hence the black w/ textured.

I know I'll never get one if I don't do it soon, while I'm thinking of it, and while I'm working a 2nd job to have the cash for dumb shit purchases like this

Any thought on these, or something similar? Don't say Dan Wesson because you and I both know I don't have the scratch for gun porn like that

Ruger also makes a 1911 that you may consider.

I don’t have a factory RIA but I do have a 1911, I built on one of their frames with the full dust cover/rail. The frame is nice quality.

Hicock45 did a video with one of the RIA 1911s recently and had nothing but good things to say. And for the price point you can’t go wrong.

If I can find a Ruger in the price range, I'd love stainless w/ wood grips, but they seem to be a little rich for me right now. Definitely not opposed to getting a used one, if it was well taken care of.

I'm gonna go look locally tonight, see what I can find. Unfortunately, even if I do pull the trigger on one, I won't be able to get it til Monday anyway, since the clerk's office will be closed by the time I'm done.

That's the 1911 I settled on. Its a damn purty firearm too. Great shooter, never had any issues with it. I probably have a little less than 1k rds thru it

One of the PA forum members has one, 370 with the stock grips. 400 with the stock and pachmayr (or) 420 with the stock and VZ grips. He's in Lancaster County PA not sure if this might help but I could find out

Only thing I disagree with is a 1911. I think they are the best looking guns. Sure they have been around for a long time, but they are like a hot chick that gets sexier with age.
