The unavailability of guns, ammo and related accessories has rekindled my interest in blades. What with the unrelenting wave of terrible news I decided to partake in a little retail therapy and I figured I was overdue for a new Spyderco. I just went to their site and searched for compression lock models, once I clapped eyes on the Ikuchi I immediately bought one.
It's really my kind of blade, sleek and elegant and very stabby/slicey. I am also quite find of the new front flipper style. It is a ball bearing pivot so the action is fast and smooth. The Bic Flick opening method is amusing, if a little awkward. It looks small bit its actually a good sized blade, over 3.5".
I think I will keep this one away from my work duties and save it for carry while out and about.

I think I shall be going on something of a Spyderco bender in the next few months. I think it's finally time for me to get a Techno. And I will be working my way through many of their other compression lock offerings.

Weird angle? How so? I have always been a sucker for this style of slender, upswept blade. I really like how the lines of the blade are mirrored and inverted in the handle. I just think it's very graceful.
And while I do like smaller blades around the 3" range I also appreciate larger knives that nevertheless look smaller than they actually are. The 940 Osborne is another such knife.

Me too. Flipper knives have always been a fun action to play with but the flipper tab sticking out the back was always a blemish to me. This style of flipper that activates at the front corner is much superior I think. There are other knives with the front flipper style and I'd like to check them out sometime as well.

Playing around with this thing and I realize the action is just about perfect. The detent is strong and allows you to build up some force before it lets go, the blade firing out very quickly. This is especially of note since it is a Taichung blade. While the Taichung factory does excellent quality work they are known for putting out knives with a weaker detent. Seems like they have it figured out on the Ikuchi. Very fun knife to toy with.

I'd definitely go for it. If you like the style I don't see any real downsides to it. I suppose it's not the kind of knife you would go ham with, stabbing 55 gal metal drums.

ZTs are for pimpin', Spydercos are for workin'.
I do own a few ZTs though. Huge fan of the Sinkevich series, I have a ZT 450 and 460.
Very smooth and sexy knives. Definitely the knives I choose to carry when I want to do a little flaunting.

So many knives, so little time! For TOPS I really like the Smoke Jumper. I have no practical use for it, I just think it looks cool. I also really need to get into some Bark River knives and I want an Esse Izula to strap onto my INVRT bandoleer setup.
I also want to get a quality reproduction Fairbairn-Sykes fighting knife, again just because I think it's a cool knife. Not even really a knife that, more like an assassination stiletto.

That’s a beautiful, elegant and very functional blade style there Pod and one of my favorites styles too. It’s sort of reminiscent of the Japanese style Upswept tanto blade that I also really like.
Damn, now I gotta get me one.
