Report: Wealthy Bentley Driver Caused Fiery Accident at US-Canada Border Near Niagara Falls​

According to a new report by CNN, an affluent man driving a $300,000 Bentley Excelsior X caused the fiery accident at the Rainbow Bridge near Niagara Falls on Wednesday.

A 56-year-old man who lived in an upscale neighborhood went to a nearby casino with his wife after a KISS concert he intended to go to was canceled.

The unidentified driver was driving at a high rate of speed when he hit the center divider and launched into the air. The Bentley caught fire after it crashed into the border inspection point.

This still seems all weird to me. Every news report was wrong. They all said from Canada trying to enter the USA. That was wrong, now the explosion was wrong and it’s just a fire. That car sure took off and flew higher and farther than any Hollywood car scene. Also said he was going to a concert that was cancelled so he went to the casino instead. I’m guessing a Bentley is pretty advanced so it would be hard to do this. I’m sure plenty of warning lights and sounds would be yelling at him. Someone said it might have been a murder suicide. I don’t know.
The response to close a whole bunch of stuff was odd to me and searching for another car seems the same to me. They took pretty extreme measures on both sides of the fence and certainly would have seen this video prior to making those calls.

I have quite a bit of experience working on and dealing with Bentleys. I absolutely believe that a Bentley could do this as it looked like a continental GT in the video. Even though they are a heavy ass car they can go fast as hell simply because they have so much power out of the twin turbo 12 cylinder engine (500 plus HP) Yes the newest ones have a ton of safety tech but it can be turned off. Most of the Bentleys you see in wny are preowned 2008ish models that only have basic traction and stability control, as dealers like to sell them as one can retail those for upper $40k’s for the wanna be ballers. As they age they have quite a bit of problems especially electrical issues. Supposedly that particular Bentley had been in for service multiple times before for a stuck gas pedal. I’m glad I no longer have to deal with Bentleys anymore (changed brands) as dealing with things like air ride suspension that gets stuck in lift mode or dealing with the trunk not opening due to a bad trunk battery (separate from the other 1-2 car batteries they have) or dealing with trying to figuring out wiring schematics (as Bentley doesn’t share their data with all data) is a headache I don’t miss.

I will also say that when a street car crashes into a hard immovable object at 100+ miles per hour it just turns into an explosive fireball like what happened.

this really just seems based upon the evidence that either the car suffered a mechanical failure (stuck gas pedal) or the driver suffered a heart attack.

1988ish I had a 82 Chevy C20 with the 6.2 Diesel. Throttle cable broke while driving the Vestal Parkway. It went full open. My only option was get on the brakes hard, put it in neutral, get off the road and shut it off. It was screaming. Thought I was going to blow the motor

Because the normal braking procedure disconnects the engine. That part is all in muscle memory. No need to even think.

Still got two stick shifts, but my daily driver is an automatic. This is actually my first automatic I've personally owned in my life.

Think about it for a moment. A car traveling at a very high rate of speed crashed into a border control checkpoint and instantly burst into flames. You’re in charge. What do you do? Ignore it and continue letting Buffaloads of western NY retards swing through the gate on their way to buy cheap duty-free rotgut liquor, or shut it down for a few minutes until you figure out WTF just happened? Let’s presume it’s nothing, but we need to be sure, so we shut it down and check it out. Nearby areas, bridges, etc should be extra cautious, also. Because if it *IS* a terror attack, and Chief Salty says “Carry on, boys, nothing to see here!” and it was the opening salvo in a coordinated attack, then we’ve already lost the battle. You don’t put your seatbelt on AFTER the crash.

Well I have prior experience dealing with Bentley. I have friends that reside on grand island. My girlfriend works at the dealership where that individual got their Cadillacs serviced. She was told it was one of their customers who was in the wreck.

This has the earmarks of a medical emergency. Driver has a heart attack and mashes the gas? The timing of this as an "attack" makes zero sense. Niagara Falls is a ghost town this time of year. If you want to cause problems down there you do it in July. There werr no explosives in the car. The video supports the possibility of it causing a fire on its own by going airborne at a high rate of speed. Way too much bogus info and jumping to conclusions out there.
