A guy at work got an old rifle from his grandfather years ago and has only that one bullet left. Once he knows what caliber it is he will.buy a bunch of it.

To be sure can you provide the base diameter, rim diameter, shoulder diameter, case length, OAL lenght and bullet diameter?

It is not the 4.6x30. Some dimensions. Base diameter - 0.35”, OL - 1.95”, CL 1.42”. I have no way of measuring shoulders. It does appear in Jane’s Infantry Weapons.

@meketrefe As best as I can determine from the limited information available for the round, it was not a wildcat. Rather designed for potential military usage. Ballistically speaking, 40-55 grains, 2600-2800 FPS.

Winner winner. Also known as 4.6 CETME. I’m at the range currently but when I get home I’ll post a photo of one of the boxes. I also have an HK marked box somewhere as well.

4.6x36 "Loffelspitz" !

It's German for "spoon point". I belive it was Germany's NATO caliber submission that competed with the 5.56x45. And lost obviously

... most likely due to the service / issue headstamp.

We will confirm with some dimensions.

I remembered the "spoon point" part from Jane's Infantry Weapons. That's what gave it away for me. How did you come upon it? Was a small amount released commercially?

The two best rounds one could put on a Short Action rifle or AR10 for absolutely anything from
white tail all the way to long range including large Elk at long range. The one on the right
one can find on the shelves everywhere.

I know but didn't even say it was a spoon point. All I am asking is for straight pictures and some measures.
The spoon point could be taken for a damaged meplat unless shown in detail.

As for how I ended up with them, damned if I can remember, but it had to have been 20-25 years ago that they made their way into my possession. Ahh, the good ole days, class three stuff, living in a free state.
