Looks like case head failure. Probably loaded one too many times.
Better to not count it and have me add it to your score than to count it and have me subtract it. I believe tie goes to the shooter.

Yea I’m thinking the same thing, no signs of anything wrong on the others but I’m not chancing it. Glad I had eyes and ears that’s for sure.
I would pull the rest and do the bent paper clip check on the case heads.
And there are people out there that don't wear eyepro because "I'm not shooting steel".
Hey post a pic of the mag, I'm curious to see how bad it is. Maybe start a new thread. Its good to have hard data on the forums forbthe search engines. Plus thus is an interesting incident to diswct in detail.
Well this month is about over! I just picked up a Ruger PC9 so now I can do the Pistol carbine class!!
It aint over till the not terribly fat anymore podmonkey shoots. I go to the range on Wednesday, the proverbial 11th hour. Got the ammo, got the targets, just need to pickup the new rifle tomorrow and I'll be ready.

I'm glad I finally got out. When the weather was warm, I was stuck home with the flu. Then last week, when I'm feeling better, and get all loaded up, and drive to the range - the gate lock is stuck shut and I can't get in. 
So, despite being 20 degrees and snowing, I took a long lunch and at least put some holes in paper.

100 yard rifle and 200 yard rifle. Same rifle for both. Savage 10 mdt chassis 6.5 creedmoor, sig sauer tango6 3-18x. Bipod front, bag rear. Hornady 140gr Eld-m.
Took 12 shots on 100 yard rifle target, I'm assuming hit on the originally missed nickel does not count? Not the best day to be at the range, pretty high winds and below 20 degrees, at least the snow stopped right after i got my gear set up.

Yes the extra shot negates one hit, I am also calling one penny a miss, I can see white all the way around it. Unless you can get me a closer picture to allow me to see it better and potential call it good

Thanks that is what I needed. It looks to me like you just clipped the edge, good enough for me to call it a hit. @sean823 how did you find us and the shooting challenge? I noticed your first post was in the challenge. Have you been lurking around the site or did someone point you to it?

I’ve been a member of the other ny firearms forum for years. I don’t post, just browse the forum. Found this forum over the summer(had a broken leg, lots of free time). I joined the forum just to participate in the challenge, I figured it would get me out to the range more often.
