Does Thordsden sell the adapter? Might be a good alternative to the spur. Assuming they sell all the hardware with it.
They have an enhanced and standard version (idk the difference) for standard AK pattern rifles.
And they also have a version for Yugo/Serb rifles

Nevermind, it's a 5.45 gun. I want a 7.62x39, that ammo is still available at only twice the normal price.
On that note, have we achieved concensus on whether Kalashnikov USA is quality or not?
I just want a classic style AK that is quality.
I don't want a high speed modernized AK, that's what my Galils are for.

I remember some sort of Rob Ski review saying AKUSA was pretty good for the cost. If I remember correctly.

Scenario- you want an AK for range use, reason being the availability and relatively, emphasis on relatively, of Russian 762x39 steel case ammo. The AK in question is to be of good quality but in a fairly basic "Nyet, rifle is fine" configuration. You won't be installing any pic rail, mlok rail handguards not even a light. However a side rail is a must for the eventual PA 2x ACSS scope on an RS Regulate mount. Folding stock is a plus but not necessary.
The conflict: At your LGS there sits (and has sat for sometime) an Arsenal SAM7 milled receiver AK, they want $1,600 for it. It's the only AK they have with no definite idea as to when they will get anything else. Do you-
A- spend the money on the SAM7
B- wait for an Arsenal SLR-107 to come along
C- wait even longer for a KUSA K-103 to come along
Let's assume you want to purchase local and bot mess around with shipping for now.

With them only wanting about 200 over msrp for thr SAM-7 (and arsenal not having any stock) and who knows when anything else will be in stock especially either the 107 or 103 I'd go and scoop up the SAM
Tailcap should hopefully be here Monday and different solution for the Hotbutton either by Friday or Monday I can't remember
Not a huge fan of it either, but any closer ends up just washing all of the light out or killing the front sight
A nice Saiga conversion is what I'd really like. Russian quality, known quantity.

If I'm not mistaken. Riley Defense is the bear creek of the AK world, I could be wrong but I think that is the reputation

What I'd really like is that PSA AK-E but those are rarer than hen's teeth even before the panic.
The KUSA K-103 seems alright but no stock anywhere. KUSA is focused on manufacturing their KR-9 and KS-12 models right now I'm told.
Yea they seem super proud of their 9mm which ok cool and they just pushed for their Cali legal 12g..
But the people want real rifles not that nonsense lmao
I'd be wanting a KR-9 if the ammo availability and cost was normal. Right now 7.62x39 is half the price so.........

Riley Defense afaik does make standard AKs with compliance including the standard spur. So compliance wise they should be spot on. Almost all their NYS compliant stuff is spur + no lugs + no threads + no folding + no forward grip.
Non issue for a PA dweller such as myself.

I may be joining you soon. Looking into the possibility. I have really good credit (830-839 last I checked) so I could probably due an insured loan for a low percent down and get into PA. My wife is OK with a PA move, but she's really limiting my choices. I'd prefer a more remote area, but she wants to stay within commuting distance of NYC.
I'm even willing to drive the UHaul the hour it takes to get to the PA border myself a few times to cut costs and move things myself.
Staying anywhere near NYC is nuts. That city is mid collapse and things will get very ugly. I'd stay away from any large urban area.
So weirdly enough I just realized this is actually going to come out better than I expected.
So the plan is to move the Hotbutton to the 9 o'clock position on the handguards. Unity tactical actually makes a Mlok version which would work better in this instance but 1) not in stock. 2) if I ever wanted to toss together an AR build I can just move my light set up over to that instead of buying double the stuff.
So anyways I ordered a 5 slot picatinny rail that attaches to mlok and (while not ideal) should work well enough for what I need it for.
Now where it gets good, I was originally hesitant about the 9 o'clock mounting if the pressure pad/button because not ambidextrous. Then I just realized that won't be a problem since I got my hands on a Surefire ds00 tailcap.. which had a built in clicky tailcap button so the saiga HD build is going to be semi better than originally pictured in my mind..
Now to deal with cable management (when the mlok rail and tailcap come in)
Soo I've been doing some thinking and I'm going to see if I can bring the light back more now that the red dot is mounted and I won't need to use the front sight
Wish I could give some ideas but I'm not into ak pattern rifles. I can tell you tha on ar the Arisaka mlock scout mount keeps a Streamlight HLX tucked up tight to the rail. Also allows you to mount it pretty far forward. Really nice setup.
