Figure 150 million adults and 300 million guns in the country

150/4.5=33.333333333

So 4.5 million adults own 33 guns hmmmm that really is something isn't it.

my mom doesn't really own a single gun, but shoots. the same goes with my brothers, the wives shoot but dont own!

They're using inferential statistics. You can make those #' s significant and pretty much say anything by using the right alpha level.
