Well it's been a long time coming....... I need to finally do my own knife sharpening. I had a good friend I would get together with a couple times a year and he would sharpen all my knives and I would get him drunk and feed him. Now that I have 3 kids and he has a new girlfriend we seem not to be able to get together as often as we would like.
As a kid I use to sharpen on one of those 3 stones mounted on a triangle contraption. I use to do pretty good one it (at least I thought so). But the last time I tried to so it I wasn't happy with the results.
When I was in the military I bought a Lansky or knockoff. I liked it then because it was compact. What I don't like is it doesn't have a stand. I tried looking online and I don't think the stands they sell for Lansky's are compatible with what I have.
My father now was one the worksharp's belt sanding sharpeners. I have used it a little bit, but wasn't in love with it.
So here's the question. Should I just stop being a sissy and buy a set of stones and learn how to do it the old fashion way? Or is there something out there that I don't know about?
