That happens a lot in the airsoft world. I’ve seen knockoff airsoft grade replicas of real gear go for more than the actual real counterparts. But since many airsofters don’t know any better they just buy the crappy quality products and waste their money.

Actually with the discount code, I can get a set of curved steel (pair) for $60 with trauma pads. Literally the cheapest option for training plates. No spall needed, just plates.

There is an Airsoft Type 56 Replica harness by "Avengers" I think that is closer to the real deal Type 56 rig that is an airsoft replica for half the price of a real rig. I had gotten one but wore a hole in it after trying to break in the mag pouches too aggressively, but it was more in line with what I was expecting and half the price of a real Type 56 rig. It was legit canvas, and not bad for the cost honestly.

The REAL Chicom rig is more expensive, but god damn is that material thick and tough. Real chicom shit is built to survive a bomb I swear. I remember when I got it was so stiff you'd think it was waxed canvas (it isn't), but it just needs regular movement. So in that case, the legit equip is way better, but you got what you pay for.

I never said always. I was just saying that it does happen often with some gear. I’ve seen it with some shitty airsoft optics and lights, when real ones that work better can be had for less or the same price. Happens with PTS products. It’s a sister company of Magpul but the pricing on some of the stuff doesn’t make sense to me. Their PTS MOE or CTR stocks are more expensive than just going and buying a real one from Magpul. Happens with plenty other products they have as well like PTS Centurion rail covers compared to real ones from Centurion.

Dead set on running a Gcode? Because you can get a Safariland and the QLS system. You can get the True North MHA and you can directly mount the Safariland holster to it or the QLS as well. Let’s you can and customize your ride height and cant. But if you 100% want a Gcode you can get the Gcode adapter for the MHA as well.

Need to figure out a good pouch situation. NY limits me to 10 round mags. I could get pinned mags but why have empty space? Seems useless to me. I'd rather do 2x 10 rounders with a bandoleer or something if possible. That will be a bit of research into the MEPC. I need to also look back at your recommendation for plates and wait for a sale if you know of good times to grab them. I'm more concerned with acquiring them eventually not a pressing need obviously, so I can wait for a good time this year while I'm training with the cheap vest + 10 pounds of plates to simulate that.

Also, side note, and this may sound insane, but I'm looking forward to wearing the plates because I'll burn more calories while playing Airsoft, and I love to eat. I'm like a eating machine if I'm not careful now that I've started weight lifting this past year.

You need to run the mags through some drills. You will see the advantage of having a standard sized mag during reloads. These are my favorite https://www.larue.com/products/lancer-l5awm-5-56-10-30-magazines/

There are so many holster options at safariland, what do you have? Do you have it mounted directly to the TN plate?

Mine is slightly different for a way which you can’t tell from that picture. I have a NCP2 installed in there too so I can use a different style of TQ holster, my ass just hasn’t gotten around to picking up the holster to mount it. So if we disregard the NCP2….You can go from the holster to the MHA. Or if you want you can do what I have and how I believe @Edwardteach72 runs his as well is the Safariland holster gets the male end of the Safariland QLS. Then you mount the female side of the QLS to the MHA. Then you can pop the holster on and off whenever you want. Or you can swap to different holsters whenever you want within seconds.

Im counting on my cat like reflexes to avoid gun fire and the pockets of my Dickies carpenter pants to carry everything.
I may rethink this in the future, but right now im concentrating on my operator skills.
Seriously yesterday I carried ammo to the range in a plastic Walmart bag.

Luckily the range is 30 feet from my door so no larpers saw me.
