New gun and optic! Smith & Wesson M&P 2.0 Compact Optics Ready, Holosun 509t in Red, with a CHPWS plate as a sandwich. Haven't taken it to the range yet (just got the optic yesterday), but stay tuned. I was waiting for the 509t in Green but looks like it might be delayed; only paid $250 for the 509t-Rd so can't complain.
Made sure to use a small bit of blue loctite on all the optic mounting hardware right? Also grab yourself a nice in-lb torque wrench if you vent already…so you can make sure everything it torques properly. The wrench definitely comes in handy on a lot of stuff.

Yep, Wheeler FAT Wrench comes in handy. Got one on sale for $40 a year or two back. CHPWS says 10 inch-lbs for plate mounted to slide; Holosun's manual says 20 inch-lbs for optic to plate but even at 20 it wasn't 'clicking'. I'll keep an eye on it.. Didn't want to damage the plate.
The plate hangs off the sides very slightly but so does the optic when mounted. Here you can see the extended slide catch/release on this particular M&P version. One of the holsters I bought rubs on it because it sticks out so far - you can replace it but I kind of like it.
Should get it to the range later this week!

So I thought I posted an update last month after my first range session with the 509t on M&P 2.0 Compact Optics Ready (see above post) - maybe I was saving it for my 'review' of the pistol - but after only 120 rounds last month, the plate was coming loose. After reading several posts over at www.pistol-forum.com I realized my error - I used the included VC3 (Vibratite?) instead of Blue Loctite. So I picked up some Blue Loctite 248 (glue stick form), used acetone to clean all screws and surfaces, and re-installed, upping the inch-lbs on the plate to around 13 (included paperwork says 10).
Didn't get back to the range to test it until today; After 180 rounds and racking the slide with the optic several dozen times it is not loose at all. (neither the optic NOR the plate) So yay!
On a related note, I was shooting back and forth between my M&P 2.0 Compact w/ 509t and my usual carry gun, a SIG P365XL w/ 507k, when I noticed the screw for the battery tray on my 507k was missing. Since I was shooting in grass there was no way I was going to find that little screw, and I didn't find extras in the Holosun packaging. (the gasket around the tray prevented it from falling out) Since the 365 is my carry pistol I used the screw from the 509t and contacted Holosun; they've already asked for my shipping address. I tried finding the screw online first.. Might be a good idea to stock up on a few.
Edit: Got shipping notification on the screw. That's pretty amazing. First contacted them about 6 hours ago, then they needed a photo of the serial #.

Personal experience don't judge me!
Bifocals had an effect on my shooting. I was always a both eyes open shooter.
So I did what most of the other older shooters at my club did, attached a scope.
That was too cumbersome so I switched to a red dot and that worked better. (As long as I remembered to turn it off)
Now I started keeping an extra set of batteries in my shooting bag.
Then saw an ad for the Sees All sights. Gave them a try and now have them on three of my guns including a carry gun. No Batteries, No turning it on, easy to site in.
All the assist of a RedDot but no batteries.

Christmas present came today. 507 with green Vulcan acss reticle. We'll see how much I like a green Chevron.
I'm to the point where I can pick up the dot pretty much instantly, but that's from a normal stance, and draw. One handed, and awkward stances, or other instance's still have to fish for the dot, and I'm sure a stressful situation would make it worse.
I really like the idea of this new dot with the large finder circle. All reviews rave about it in the instance's I've mentioned above.

Wow guys and gals. If anybody is thinking about picking up a pistol dot, this is the one to get! They need to release this reticle in the smaller k sized dots asap.
I mounted it up, and threw in a laser trainer, and shit you not, this is as easy to pick up as a rifle mounted dot! Single handed, non dominant hand, moving, no problems.
My highest recommendation if you are planning on a carry gun optic.

I'm a bit disappointed in everyone here... it took way to long for the Steiner optic to even be mentioned...
Well anyways cause I'd hate for this to also take forever to be mentioned.. jk I'm actually back on my hating holosun (they did what they were destined to do and that's make good manufacturers push their limits... not handgun related but aimpoint just dropped their budget micro dot .... the Duty is to the t2 as the pro is to the m5)

I am still trying to understand the entire red dot for my gun.
I bought the Sig P320M17 in hopes of putting a red dot on it. I t is ready for the Romeo one and the Delta Point. I do not want either of them.
There are adapter plates, but not all red dots that fit these mounts are listed.
Again, my simple confusions.

Looking at either the Vortex Viper or Venom.
I like the Vortex. And I am frugal at times. I get 40% of Vortex
This gun will really only be a range toy, I am not wanting or willing to spend a shit ton on a red dot.
I have 3 Vortex Venoms, two 6MOA and one 3MOA, I'm very happy with them. I did had to send one back and it was replaced with a new one from Vortex. At 40% off you are really going to like them!

I'll have my dot you can check out tomorrow to see if you like. (Chevron Vulcan acss) I love it, and think it's the perfect reticle. There are plates available for it if you want to go that route.
