This would certainly be brought up by the prosecutor to show that you just wanted to kill somebody. And his client's now dead family member was just an innocent victim that wasn't trying to rob you, just asking directions to the church so he could volunteer in the food pantry.

A defense attorney could just as easily argue that you as a shooter were trying to use less deadly force because those rounds suck!

Am I wrong to believe that using deadly force in self defense doesn’t have various degrees? Ammo choice for example do I ask for kinda dead loads verses full dead loads ? I think it’s silly that ammo has any weight in the matter and only the choice of pulling the trigger should be scrutinized ( justified or unjustified) PERIOD !
