Although NY sucks, Although the laws are incorrect and unjust, it seams he had magazine that are illegal in NY why are we complaining?
Just because they are illegal. It just aggravates me how something can be legal in most of the country, and can make you a felon in NY.

There are thousands upon thousands of bad laws that we don't agree with, but in order to keep our stuff and stay out of jail and trouble we MUST follow them. the laws are designed to disarm us one person and one gun at a time. Don't fall into there trap for a couple of extra rounds in your gun,
That's not true and you know that. There are literally thousands of reasons for aquittals. One example that happened to me was that the intoxilizer machine broke the day after my arrest and all records were lost. Since we don't "field test" here, that meant we lost all of our evidence. His lawyer successfully supressed the video we take, so he got off. That doesn't make my arrest bullshit.

Its already that way now, people 30 and younger finish HS, go to college, then move out looking for work. My friends that have stayed either work for the government, or a trade union, those are the only jobs left in NY

I KNOW this guy personally (not well -- an acquaintance). He is an Iraq combat vet, former Blackwater contractor, and licensed security guard.
He was working security at a bar and when he pulled out of the lot after closing time the cops pulled him over on "suspicion" of DWI. He was NOT DWI. he exercised his Fifth Amendment right and refused to tell them if he had anything to drink. The arrested him on suspicion, and inventoried his vehicle, where they found three post-ban 15 round mags in a locked safe in the truck. No warrant!
He REFUSED to take a plea bargain because he believed that SAFE is unconstitutional. He was acquitted of the bogus DWI charge in court and found guilty on all THREE magazine violations -- EACH is a Class D Felony worth SEVEN YEARS!
I am going to try to spread this far and wide and make a national story out of it... this is INSANE.

Regardless of how any of us feel about the laws of this great State, the laws are the laws. It was not necessarily a BS arrest. There is a thing called Implied Consent in NY as well as many States.

Just because someone is found not guilty of a crime in Court does not make it a bad arrest. I am not specifically talking about this case. I do not have all of the facts. Just talking in general, attempting to expand a bit of knowledge.
He made a few errors, it seems the officer made some as well.
I am hoping that the judge turns out to be a better guy than the jury was.
Are you saying the charge of speeding was added after? Any charges made by a cop are at the time of arrest, and then the ADA can add any the cop missed while the arrest is being processed, that's it. Obviously those involved in charging this guy expected the DWI to stick, you post doesn't make sense to me.
