I actually just put it in an Archangel stock the other day. I haven't been able to shoot it yet considering all ranged are closed.

not sure where you live but Blue Mountain Sportsman Center (Westchester county near peekskill) is still open. i was there last weekend, bit crowded than usual [with covid-19, guess all the n00b's are out to the range and testing with their guns]

Happy NYLAK customer! After being told by a local gun store that I should get my AK out of the state (seriously), I did some searching around and printed out the NY Un-Safe Act. Turns out there was no reason to worry. I spent a relatively tiny amount of currency and made a few "permanent modifications" and here is the end result of my VEPR 7.62X39. Had it out for a test drive and I can say that the NYLAK is every bit as comfortable and controllable as a Free Man's pistol grip. So... The Un-Safe act is an utter failure again. Absolutely no compromise to my ability to fire the standard semi-automatic weapon. I popped for the UTC low profile sight rail - it's brilliant. Stable, solid, no movement whatsoever, and picked up the SightMark red dot as well. All in all, a great package.

Edit - the wife's Saiga 74. She's thrilled. She's not much of an upright shooter, she likes bench or shooting from a fixed position like a downed tree or something to use the bipod with. I don't argue because even though AK's are supposed to be inaccurate, those tennis ball size groupings at 100 yards after three magazines says she likes to reach out and touch things.

It's a nice rifle, accuracy is pretty tight at 150 yds with my Burris scout scope. Biggest downside is the recoil while using a bipod, the lack of a brake sucks.

Was shooting MSR American Eagle 149 grain FMJ.

Next time I'm in PA I'll be sure to bring my shooting bag, maybe that will offer more stability.

Someday I will get past the delay status and get to bring home the lowers to complete these. The top one it a basic M4 style from Core15. The lower one is being built as a sport/target and possibly a competition riffle. The competition riffle is an Anderson upper, Wilson combat Stainless 1/7 fluted 16" barrel, Stainless mussel break., Palmetto 14' floating hand guard, Palmetto Nib BCG, Titanium firing pin, Magpul MOE SL-S stock. I also have a 3 lb drop in trigger for the lower.

We have full auto m4/m16's (and various derivatives), crew-served machineguns, semi-auto DMR's...none of them are referred to as "assault" anything.

Back in the day, when bolt-action rifles were still common, "assault" was used to distinguish those full-auto weapons used by the maneuver elements (Thompson submachine gun, Sturmgewehr 44, ect).

Nowadays, every element, down to the fireteam, has full auto capabilities, so any distinction of which rifle is an "assault" type is meaningless.

Using the term "assault rifle" in the modern military is only going to get weird looks. A M4, or AR-15 derivative, is not an assault weapon...it's a carbine or rifle, plain and simple. The only reason the term has picked up any momentum in recent years is because of the politicking around it.

"Fighting rifle" / larping set up is one step closer (still a fair amount left to do) but it's now at what I would consider the barest of minimum for a fighting rifle.... Rifle and sling.

Will be adding a WML next then follow it up with an optic (in order of importance)



Going with pinned 30 round mags as they will keep the manual of arms the same as if we lived in a "free" state (if you've ever tried to rock and lock an actual 10 round mag you'd get it) plus they will/would work better in a chest rig and belt mag pouch
