If that is indeed the case Holdover, after the devastation, look for China to swarm in there, all in the name of 'peace and goodwill', and set up a puppet government. They will not tolerate a unified Korea in the style of south Korea, a strong U.S. ally, directly on their border.
I have my doubts that military action will ensue.

I don't know either, but if it happens its not going to happen tomorrow. Desert storm took months to position troops , and build allies. Sure we could fight tomorrow, at a disadvantage. But waiting a few months would give us a huge advantage.

Im not saying it will happen for certain but how long is this piss ass country going to be allowed to play with their rockets? Its one thing to fire them in the ocean its another to fire them over someone's country. They are screaming to get hit.

Obama had Bin Laden (according to the narrative). Me thinks Trump will have Kim Jong Un. Shortly. Some loose ends need to be tied before we MAGA. My 2 cents.

Agreed. I just think it will be resolved sooner than later under current administration. Then GTFOO Asia and MAGA. The beds have been made, now they have to lie in it. The rhetoric is mind boggling. JMHO.

Yeah, I know. Millions of NK are dying already. I have no idea what the powers that be have in mind, but have a strong feeling some big news will be coming shortly and it won't involve millions of people dying. The rhetoric is as bad as I can ever remember. Somebody's going to pull the trigger soon. My guess it will be a special ops team and not a nuclear catastrophe. God bless the troops!

I have a nephew in the AF that got a upgrade in his security clearance getting ready for some spec ops mission but he takes his oath very seriously and wont divulge even a tiny morsel or crumb. The only thing he could say about NK is it's very touchy.
I wouldn't mind seeing a few, or 50, sniper teams targeting Lil Kim and his generals. Enough of them start dropping will make the rest scared.

I bet Kim will do it. He is gradually being a limit tester with trump seeing what he can get away with. Each time he keeps doing a little more and so far has gotten away with it. He probably thinks president trump is all talk and won't do anything so he will press ahead and do the test.

A co worker has a Korean wife ...Everyone is stockpiling food etc. As much as they can afford .He said the North Koreans have a large dam overlooking the South . According to him if war breaks out One of the first things will to be blow it and a few hundred thousand people will be killed ..

Fatty Kim is not the idiot. We are. We are embarrassingly stupid and I hope when fatty kim drinks his wine and his cheese he laughs at the idiot americans.

We've had multiple two term presidents to deal with this issue and nothing has been done. And then the recent sanctions which were thoroughly worthless and did nothing but buy NK more time and remind them how they will not be hit militarily.

There are two options. Only two, this has been obvious for years:
1) Fully nuclear NK
2) We attack them

At this point with their missiles and the possibility they can actually tip one and get it to reenter the atmosphere properly, the only option is massive, brutal shock and awe campaign, one that makes the attack of baghdad in 2003 look like a fireworks oopsy. Regime change is the only way forward and given their weaponry we'll need as many carriers there as we can muster and just sport-f*** the entire military infrastructure of NK. 5 minutes before the attack we tell them it's about to happen and that if they attempt to launch a WMD against any allied force they will be hit with nuclear missiles. That's the only way to do it that I can see. Also tell them during that call we are seeking regime change. Make sure his 95 year old generals he has a penchant for are aware that we will keep hitting until Kim is either arrested or dead. And these generals have family and grand kids. They won't want to see pyongyang lit up by a nuclear weapon.

I don't believe the US is willing to do that (it's all very risky of course), and so I believe still we will have an increasingly nuclear NK and do nothing to stop it. Maybe there is a revolution in a decade and the new leader is convinced to disarm, who knows.

I'm guessing that estimated number of deaths is a teeny, tiny bit overblown. That number of people were killed in the tsunami of 2004 but I can't see a dam having that sort of potential.

Assassination followed by a coup is the best solution for everybody.

China can keep a hardline communist government as a buffer, we can get rid of a loose cannon on the world stage and replace him with a more reasonable dictator, and the south can breathe easier after they get to know the new guy. Maybe even get some real trade going.


All without more than a few shots fired, and all of those in N Korea.

I agree with this. Our "window of decision" is quickly shrinking. If military force is their option we are running out of time at an alarming pace. This is not an infinite period where we can keep waffling back and forth. An imminent decision must be made except a nuclear power NK, or to stop them with haste.
