He was given a legal order that he must comply with and was told multiple times what would happen if he failed to comply. The disappointed when that outcome came to occur.
A couple weeks ago a black girl on a bicycle was arrested for doing the exact same thing. Warned many times what would happen then when it did she cried racism. It is also all on film.

Did you see the whole video? The one where he leaves his parking spot of his home and gets pulled over for a non existent traffic violation? The cop even admitted in the video that it was just a fishing expedition. Then afterwards the arrest report said that he was pulled out of the car because he was reaching for a weapon.
Then his wife, a passenger also gets forcefully pulled out of the vehicle and arrested. His brother in law also in the vehicle was also arrested. For what?
Maybe you believe it just to provide your papers because an overlord says so. If I was in his shoes and knew without a doubt that I was being harassed, I would be him. There are some people who stand up and others who just take it.
Somehow all charges were dropped. Wonder why?

Just like very gun owner is a mass shooter just waiting for the right trigger to send them on a lethal spree of death and destruction.

Thankfully I have met and interacted with some exceptional officers who do their job and are a credit to their profession.

Completely irrelevant. Implicit in what you're saying is that there should be a thorough adjudication of the suspicion of the crime prior to this guy having to provide ID. That is of course impossible.
If a cop suspects you of something, whether this suspicion is legitimate or not, in this scenario you must provide ID. Law is crystal clear on this. The time to adjudicate reasonable suspicion is in court.
I only saw the first video in the first post. That video showed police acting legally and a legal arrest.
Prosecutors didn't have, or did not see a case. Charges are dropped all the time. Being dropped does not mean an arrest was improper, else there would be no need for a court system--we could just assume guilt based on whether somebody was arrested or not.
Again, in the 3:50 video in the first post the police acted 100% legally.

You are not familiar with the law, and you could find yourself in trouble. Let me spell it out plainly: When the police pull you over you are under a duty to provide your driver's license. This is not a debate, there is no gray area, or middle ground. This is the law. If you do not comply you will be arrested. Every single time. The system allows for police to pull people over for bogus reasons and you still must provide your ID. If you later prove the reason was bogus, you will have charges dropped. You do not get to plead your case and adjudicate the matter on the side of the road arguing with police. The system obviously could not function if you could.
This is precisely the same as if there is a robbery in the area and the police stop you. You know 100% you didn't do it, can easily prove it in a court of law. Police think nonetheless you're a legitimate suspect as they are not working on all the information. They attempt to arrest you. We've just established they are arresting you for something you absolutely, unequivocally did not do, and can prove as innocent in court. Is the arrest illegal? No. Are you allowed to resist it? No.
The driver was 100% wrong. Wrong on every level.
Driving is not a right, there are laws that surround this non right activity.

I don't know about anyone else, but my time is worth money. Even when Im "off the clock" (which I never am, I have been on call for 30+ years) my time is worth money. So anything I can do to mitigate my time by the side of the road is what I'll do.
Hell one time on my GL1800 I stopped for gas, the line was 9 cars deep. 9 cars at 5 to 8 minutes per car? thats 45 to 60 minutes, for what, a 10¢ off per gallon, screw that, I went to the full service island, pumped my own gas and was on my way in 10 minutes. I look at a traffic stop the same way.
Honestly, I have yet to run into a hostile cop. Every interaction I have had, has been nauseatingly polite. Every time I have been stopped, the officer was extremely polite and cordial. I was asked why I was pulled over (99.9% for 1180D) I just admit Im on my way to go hunt or fish and I want to get there. he takes my paperwork, then we usually have a conversation about hunting and fishing, taking time off...blah.blah.blah, I get my traffic award and we go about our merry way.
There really is no reason to turn a traffic stop into a shit storm, unless you like tying up your afternoon fucking around.

I can honestly say I've only ever dealt with polite police as well. I believe the huge bulk of them approach a situation hoping it goes fine and they can be on their way. There are some true assholes who shouldn't be wearing a badge to be certain. I know there are. I've just not dealt with any in my 2+ decades of being an adult.
I've also been incorrectly pulled over and/or stopped on three occasions:
1) Cop pulled me over because I matched the description of a vehicle that was driving dangerously. Was it me? No. Did I show my license when asked? Of course. Did I act like an idiot arguing about it first? No. Was on my way in a couple of minutes and that was that.
2) Cop pulled me over because my registration had expired. As soon as he got to the window he noticed it hadn't expired and he had seen the color on the thing wrong. Said sorry and got back into his car.
3) Last month I was cutting brush on my own property and had the cops called by a neighbor who didn't understand I was actually cutting brush on my land. I was asked for ID. Since I knew I was doing nothing wrong (it was my property!) I got into a huge argument with them and it became violent and I was arrested. Although they had received a call in and I was potentially suspicious, I knew I was good to go, so I was completely non-compliant. OR did I appreciate their perspective, show them my ID, have a chat with one about the site while the other checked my ID, and then five minutes later was back to cutting brush?
To be clear I truly respect people who deny showing ID for bogus reasons and do exercise their rights--when they have that right--but when suspected of a crime and/or driving, for better or worse you gotta play ball. If you don't like it, you can argue your case in court.

I tend to agree with you GOP, but some common courtesy on the Cops' part would have been to explain why he pulled him over, and it sounded like the guy would have readily complied if the officer had done just that. The Cop was the one that made it a pissing contest, in my view.

I thought about that. It couldn't have hurt. But it also sets a precedent of pleading and dialogue and i am sure the cop has been through that enough times to know how it works out. The second he does that now he's in a long debate over this or that with the other guy demanding yet more details, arguing other points of view, etc. it's just an endless circle jerk at that point, which is surely why the cop didn't allow it to start.
In other words: I don't believe for a moment that the guy would have agreed to show ID had the cop quickly told him why he had been stopped.

The former chief implied the officer's actions, while justified, may not have been the wisest. "Just because something is legal to do doesn't necessarily mean it's the right thing to do," he said.
When asked if the officer went too far, Godby said, "I think most reasonable people would say from a policy standpoint there's an opportunity for some training."
