The cop said " your prob. Suspended " , the cop could have entered the plate number first, he also should have told the driver why. Then it would've been on the driver, to me the cops are wrong on this one.

Yes, the difference is one scenario happened, the other didn't Always show your driver's license when you're pulled over while driving. That's really as simple as I can make it.

Always hand over your wallet when being mugged too.

Just because it's the smart thing to do doesn't make it reasonable to require.
