Honestly I think right now it's on its one of 2/3 options

1) final stages of tweeking after all the testers got time behind it and gave some feed back to Cory.

2) Cory is building up a stupid large supply before going live

3) similar to 2 or in conjunction 2, waiting for the holster companies to be ready for the demand and have their stock built up

I have been looking through Safariland's site but there model nomenclature and layout is utterly impenetrable. Which holster would be tge one for a Fullsize P320 w/remote and the protective hood thingy, 1 level of retention (that twist and pull thing, or whatever, not the flippy thing that goes around the back) and I don't want the drop leg deal. Just a mid ride belt holster. And obviously a model compatible with tge PL350

I would suggest a 6360rds or 7360rds

(Safarilands retention numbering is different than everyone else)

The xx60 will be level 3 retention but with a quick removal of 2 screws it goes down to a level 1 retention by removing the SLS hood (self locking system)

Conversely the 6390 and 7390 are level 1 retention but cannot have the SLS (self locking system) added to the holster, so it can only ever be level 1 and level 2 retention.

The few extra bucks is well worth it and getting the level 3 retention (which can be bumped up to level 4 or all the way down to level 1 and 2)

Ok sorry didn't have much opportunity to write a quality post about the best safariland holsters.

1st any safariland light bearing holster set up for an x300u will work with the modlite PL350 (Cory and many others have verified that safarland x300u holsters are also PL350 holsters)

So you will just need to find a Safariland 6360rds or 7360rds holster set up for a P320 with x300u.

Now as for their funky retention levels..

Safariland Lvl 1 retention is the ALS (Automatic Locking System) this automatically locks the gun in the holster on the Ejection port when the gun is inserted into the holster (also why the PL350 and other lights will work in an x300u holster as the holster does not index or lock on the light.. you can even use light bearing holsters without a light attached to the gun) the ALS is deactivated with a "nub" you hit with your thumb on the draw. It's very intuitive and fast for the person carrying the holster.

LVL 2 is just the SLS (self locking system) this is the more recognizable hood that you move up and down, up to secure the gun in the holster and down before drawing

Level 3 is the combination of the ALS and SLS, level 3 holsters can have the SLS removed very fast with 2 screws or added back if wanted.

Level 4 is the addition of sentry lock to the SLS (this can also be added to Level 2 holsters but I can't remember how they categorize that level of retention)

Now the SLS is a simple push down then forward to deactivate the strap. Which then naturally puts the thumb into position to deactivated the ALS which is a down and back motion.

Just for some fun for anyone interested.. was sitting out back last night taking the dog out to potty.

Figured I'd see if I could capture a photo comparison of no real light vs PLHv2.

This was taken on my Samsung Galaxy 20 ultra (I think thats my phone) I did the best I could one handed to try and get the photos as close to how I saw it in real life..

From where I was sitting to the fence at the very back is over 25 yards.. maybe 28 or 30 yards. But let's just say 25y to make it easy. I did have our patio light on and the flood light behind me was activated (for reference)




And now here is the PLHv2

Yeah, I think it's a pretty good general purpose beam though for my purposes I'd trade a little throw for some more spill

As a dedicated defensive light you can't beat Modlite. They are great for the intended use. That's why I want one as a WML. But for 99.999% of everyday use I need something with either a lower or adjustable output.

I still think a momentary on feature would be a plus on a WML. Some people like it and train that way. Look at the mod button offered in momentary only. Weird they will be offering g a pistol light with constant only.

Just because we are getting ever so close.

Here we have a Walther Q5Match SF with a Holosun 509t and of course PL350 in a Safariland 6390rds (with a Ghostmendesings Portal, not necessary add on to the safariland, or needed to get it to work with the PL350, it's a whole separate gear conversation)


And if anyone knows anything about Safariland, they know 2 things..

1) they make the best duty retention holsters on the market
2) they are not fast at adding new holsters to keep up with new products.. aka they have definitely not made any PL350 specific holsters and probably never will (and why would they.. x300u holsters work with PL350 lights, and actually bunch of other lights

So from what I’m hearing the PL350 should be released in less than six weeks, sometime near the end of next month. They received a substantially higher quantity of dealer orders than originally expected, but that should also hopefully mean higher quantity of PL350’s will be available during the initial launch.
