I am concerned what laws NYS and Nyc would pass to mess with CCW carriers

We need the fed to overrule the state/city when it comes to violations of the Constitution.

I am against BGC's for gun purchases. I find them in themselves to be very anti-Constitution. I know that many here feel the same.

Question, if you are against these checks, would you be willing to compromise and allow them on every gun purchase in order to get this Nationwide carry?

For me the answer is a simple HEEEEEELL YES!! Been through that system so many friggan times, like I care if they do it some more..then the reward being Nationwide carry?!.. No damn brainer I'd say.

Excellent write up Will. After reviewing it, I see now that I definitely misinterpreted section (b). With your improved interpretation, and Spat's addition that there aren't any states that completely prevent concealed carry, this bill is looking a lot better.

I see a similarity to the concealed carry provisions of LEOSA. Instead of the base qualification being law enforcement, it would instead be a valid CC permit, or being a resident of a state that doesn't bother with CC licenses. Any person meeting those requirements could CC in any state, but would have to follow the local "unrestricted" rules.

It's far from perfect as Celt pointed out, but definitely a step in the right direction. We develop a momentum with this, get that snowball effect going, and we'll be some very, very happy people in the years to come.

Nothing in LEOSA says anything about following the local "unrestricted" rules.

It's my understanding that if a state or local government has rules preventing concealed carry on their properties, LEOSA carriers have to follow those rules. The same goes for the rules of private persons/businesses and their properties. Of course, most Federal properties, and gun free school zones are also off limits.

That's correct. LEOSA holders are subject to only two local gun laws. Those involving certain government property, and those involving private property.

The downside to the bill as written is the small "got ya" laws locals and state governments can create to get a CCW in legal trouble. For example NYS, magazine restrictions or its ban on threaded gun barrels ( it makes the gun an assault weapon) etc. NJ has its hollowpoint ban


Some states don't restrict locals from making gun laws that apply to permit holders. That's how the anti 2A will attempt to restrict the people from carrying
