So you are saying what I’ve been saying all along. You will not quit or refuse to arrest if the camera is rolling because your pension trumps your oath and the constitution. You are saying that the bidding and tyranny of the government will be done if the camera is rolling and any person who chooses to ignore the tyranny and tell you about it whether by accident or on purpose is an idiot . Fine. With that said, is there any limit where you would just drop everything?

I do a decent amount of traveling, prior to leaving this F'ed up State, I always look into the laws of the States in which I am traveling to. I ensure that I follow those laws. Well, most of the time. The times I decide not to follow certain laws, I am prepared to face what comes my way.

I am a realist, I understand our Constitution and the Bill of Rights; I also understand that those documents are not always followed.

At a certain level this is like victim blaming.

While it is ill advised for a girl to walk through certain neighborhoods in a short skirt at 2am, it *isn't* her fault what happens to her. The fault lies entirely with the person who attacked her.

This guy is a victim. He did a dumb thing, but he is no more at fault for getting raped by the NYS "justice" system than that girl is responsible for getting raped by some lowlife.

So, while he might be dumb for putting himself in that position, the fault is entirely NYS's.

That certainly puts people in a bad spot. It's going to leave people forced to choose between their morals and their job in certain interactions. And I would venture to guess that 99% of the population would be forced to choose their job because it's a matter of survival, at least if they have dependents and responsibilities.

The trouble is, that most people become a little bit more aware of the world as they get older and tend to get more set in their ways which creates a bigger internal conflict when having to choose between your job and morals. It's the younger generation that is typically all gung-ho and ready to tow the line and do what they're told.

This is only going to create a bigger gap between police and private citizens as time goes on.

Unfortunately, our education system isn't going to be able to make people aware of the potential moral dilemmas they might face when entering profession of policing.

The world has changed drastically over the last couple of decades, I'm sure policing is night and day from when you first decided to get into it. And I bet that @Airborneguy would agree with that as well.

The profession has changed so drastically that I pretty much spend my time avoiding doing it lol. I’m only still here because I am too young to retire completely and I really don’t want to start another career.

I have to address one point you made though, about the internal conflict. As I was attempting to explain crystal clearly above (more than once), I hold ZERO qualms in doing what has to be done to protect myself when my actions did not initiate the incident.

Civilians demanded that we wear these cameras, not us. We tried to warn everyone. How many posts did I make about it here? I was told that I must have something to hide if I don’t want to wear a camera. Well, now we have them, they’re worse for civilians (exactly as we said) and somehow it is ME who is supposed to feel shame and dishonor? Absolutely not.

If someone cannot figure out how to keep their mouth shut and their illegal items hidden, then it’s no skin off my back. I don’t go looking for ANYTHING anymore. It is my strong opinion that any cop who undertakes proactivity of any type is stupid in this climate. BUT, if you show it to me and my civilian-ordered camera, game on, and YOU made the first move.

My kids come first, by like 10,000 miles.
