I forgot where I read it, but it said the Coyotes raped the GreyWolf out of existence..... Basically took over all the territory and food. Didn't know they had a documentary.

Syracuse University has done extensive research on coyote populations in northern New York. Well documented in a book about the Adirondacks -- the coyote DNA structure in northern NY has a large degree of DNA that can be traced to the Canadian Algonquin wolf pack -- this is where the extremely large size comes from, comapred to the western coyote. ( I forget the book - will try to find it.)

That blond yote I called into my driveway last month sure fit the description real well. Wish is would have been a little more light out so I could have gotten a better look at the head. Definitely fit the long leg part well. I'm itching for season to open.

I have one Blonde Yote, only one I ever seen. Old picture I posted before. Had mange on legs. Pretty big one though.

I know alot of people don't like them but traps work well. As do dogs trained to hunt coyotes. I had to clean one up after it encountered a BLM horse.

My wife is a country girl. She knows what animals are supposed to look like. On her way to work 2 years ago she turned the corner on a country road that runs for a mile or so with no houses. She said the largest, most physically impressive canine she had ever seen came out of the wetlands in front of her car, lept on top of a stone wall 6 feet high at the base of a hill as if it was nothing, turned and looked at her as "if I was insignificant". It trotted off uphill effortlessly.
We had an early March snowstorm a few years ago 2 feet of snow and 60mph winds. Me and the pup went out snowshoeing early in the storm. We went out again after the storm passed, trees blown downenormous drifts. I came upon a deer kill, a big pit, 6 ft across and 2 feet deep in a snowdrift, with blood and fur and bones scattered all over. Something caught a deer and sat out the storm eating it for 24 hours. Big canine tracks leaving the kill.

Probably a cross breed of some sort. It's a growing problem out west with reintroduced wolves breeding with coyotes and peoples pets. End up with an animal that's larger than a coyote, and lives alone. There was a documentary on Netflix about them.

That's called a Eastern Coyote. Wolves followed the seaway trail to breed with Yotes, giving us the Eastern Coyote much larger and aggressive than a small western yote.

Wolves have bred with Yotes, and Yotes have bred with dogs... But the yote is a enemy to a Wolf, he will kill a Yote if near. A yote will also friend a dog only to breed or kill him. He is a opportunist.
