You'd wrap your thumb over the top of the reciever/barrel. Its not as thick as it looks.

I know not too many people like kel tech, for various reasons, mainly the exposed screws and other aesthetics, but I own a few kel tech and I love them. Never had any issues. I was really hoping for one of these before I moved but now I have my eyes set on the RDB-RFB series...

There are numerous Kel Tec designs I'd like to to own/try. Sub 2000, SU 16, RBD. I'd even like to give their PMR a whirl, despite it's checkered reputation. And assuming I could actually find one for sale!

I own both the Sub2k and the SU-16 and both are fantastic... Also, I see PMR's for sale all over... It is on my list as well despite the reviews. I also really want a CMR-30 to go with the PMR lol

See now as for the CMR 30, I've not heard many good things about. supposedly its a real jammomatic. Also some issues with the operating surfaces galling against each other and littering the internals with shavings. Shame too, its a very cool looking piece and looks like it would be tons of fun too shoot.

I like the kel-tec stuff , innovative and I had good luck with the 2 that I owned.
The P3AT was the original polymer pocket piece , now there are a plethora of copy cats out there.

Yeah its a 5.56. I agree about the scope, especially since its a 3 MOA shooter.

I think the compliant vesrion has merit on its own as well. It'd be a great scabbard gun strapped to an ATV or some such. I also think it just looks cool, something that is difficult to say about other neutered designs, Kel Tec seems to have a knack for this. The SU 16s for example, compliant models are even prefered over the non compliant versions.

IIRC it's in the 1000+ range. The RBD last i saw is going for around 1200 ish. So I'd assume it would start similar

Anyone serious about a gun one could bet his/her life on should stay away from any keltec products, at least for now.
They are into innovation and low cost firearms. The SU16 is not that bad due to its simplicity and
philosophy of use as a back-pack/ranch rifle but other firearms they make do not have what we could call a stellar track record.
They are cool firearms but nothing one could nor should rely on for heavy use or critical duty.
This is understandable since they are a small company in Florida that makes innovative designs
but they have limited capabilities in terms of research and development as well as quality control.
And like many of these companies their processes are driven by the price point so they get trapped
between cost and quality.
I love what they do in the name of innovation but we have to be realistic.
The youtube reviews do not mean anything. They are cool though.

As I said Kel Tec's inconsistent QC is really holding the company back. I don't think I'd rely on the RBD as a defensive or SHTF carbine either, but I would be open to it after a successful testing period. And I do put some stock in Ian and co. opinions. His channels don't really focus on reviews but rather obscure firearms history and shooting and 2 gun comp and theory. Ian seemsbto be exceptionally knowledgeable and well reserearched so when he come across something that he likes it gets ny attention. But I already have a carbine, if I buy another rifle it will a semi auto 308 of some kind, leaning toward a PTR 91 atm due to its relative cheapness.

From what I'm seeing it's the pistols that have the problems but the rifles are solid. My RFB has been going strong with about 700 rounds through it with no problems (hundreds suppressed). I haven't cleaned it yet either. Would 10 years of use be sufficient to give an opinion?
