New option for 'fixed mag' SAFE Act?

I appreciate the enthusiasm in the thread for finding new tech, but excuse me for saying these people are cucks. Did anyone actually read the home page about how stupid and unsafe you all are, thus require their special patent pending invention? God forbid you nutjobs have bullets in your gun, you might haul off and go shoot some innocent people. I'm not really sure when the last time was my loaded guns jumped out of the safe and mowed down family members because I didn't want to pause and load them during a home invasion.

I'm sure this is the SAFEST solution for all AR-15 owners EVERYWHERE... what a bunch of pompous douchebags. I bet it's also the fastest way to run 30 rounds through an AR-15 too. This has to be a liberal invention exploiting people... only a liberal would be so condescending toward their target customers while also being so self righteous.

@Rustycoins, I think your taking the website too much to heart. They are trying to sell a product. Do you think that all these firearm manufacturer's, accessory companies etc...are in it just because they like firearms? Also, given some of the daily stupid things people do with firearms "by accident" that we read about in the news, maybe they would be better off not keeping them loaded for their sake....just a reality. Not sure if this thing will live up to the hype but for now, I like the thought of it regardless how they push it. As for liberals....dont think so....have you ever been to north Georgia?.....if so, you wouldn't think that.

Is a fixed magazine practical for self/home defense. I'm not a hunter. I sometimes go to the range and target shoot. So I'm not into sport shooting. (maybe someday)
My AR's main propose is self defense. I don't see a fixed mag a being any good.

I guess some of you NY gun owners have accepted the unSAFE act law. And will accept this govn't dictating in what manner it citizen can protect themselves.

A fixed 10-round magazine would probably suffice for 99% of home defense, assuming 1-2 attackers, no jams requiring mag change, and assuming your aim is true. Is it worth the risk for that 1%? Only you can answer that.

For me....No. Chances are it'll be a 1% chance I'll even use a firearm for self defense in the home or outside the home. I still have one for that 1 percent chance.

Six of one half a dozen of another. You can have a fixed mag AR with 10 rounds or you could have a fixed mag shotgun with 5-7. How many people swear by skatter guns for HD but will cry foul for using a rifle with more capacity? Or you can use a fully functional non neutered AR, but just don't "really" use that one because you'll end up in prison. If people didn't have something to bitch about there would be no conversation.
I must be the messed up one, HD here is my handgun :p

I wouldn't use a scatter gun for home defense but if I did, at least I can load the scatter gun quickly and actually have the ability to clear a malfunction.

That's the issue that some of us have. It isn't that it's a fixed magazine. It's that the AR wasn't designed to have a fixed mag and when you do so, you cannot reload or clear malfunctions quickly.

Keep your fixed mag for when or if the time ever comes when you need it and have a few minutes to re originate it. Made up percentages are just that.

I can see both sides I just have a problem with some basically cutting down going fixed mag. I believe if someone's AR malfunctions there's a fixable reason behind it. Our guns aren't used in war, fighting in sand or mud. Realistically An AR in our use shouldn't have problems if it's working correctly and using reliable ammo. If you have malfunction that should be the last gun to think of for HD. Maybe parts breakage could be a problem though, I've only shot 4 ARs and they all function smooth as snot. And honestly, I can load my fixed mag AR as easily as I can my Winchester model 12. It's really not a problem. I still prefer my Walther and 4 mags.
If the time ever comes I NEED my AR back as original it will take me all of 30 seconds with 1 spare part. Until that time I hunt with my AR so it needs to be fixed mag seems I absolutely hate the other options, the gun is about the ergonomics to me.

Please don't misinterpret my comments as being against anything. Everyone must find their own way in coping with the tyranny that has been inflicted upon us and I will not criticize the decisions men make in that regard.

Ahhh hell, Robin, I've known you enough years here and the defunct site to know you mean no harm and like to bust balls ;)
Some people here though seem to ride a high cloud when it comes to how something should or should not be. Everything is about personal preference really. Had I not broken my wrist when I was a kid I may not mind the goofy looking stocks to keep dropping mags, but it is what it is. As far as I'm concerned, I don't care if someone uses a bat for HD. Maybe they can swing harder than I :)

I posted a question on their video about whether you can reload without dropping the rifle of target and they replied that you definitely can. In fact, they said that they will be posting a video that shows that they can actually reload faster than changing a magazine, while keeping the rifle on target. I'd have to see how natural it is to grab a loader and insert your thumb to believe it.

To date, I've avoided the whole fixed-mag concept, especially with Rochester's 5-round limit, but this actually make me think about it.

#$%&-ing Rochester. So, by their definition, the Mean loaders are actually "Ammunition Feeding Devices" ("Magazines, belts, feedstrips, drums or clips capable of being attached to or utilized with ...") capable of holding more than five rounds, so they are prohibited. In addition, possessing one, while owning a semi-auto centerfire rifle capable of using it, makes that rifle into an "Assault Weapon", by their definition.

They would have to make one that only holds 5 rounds for me to be able to use it.

This part makes no sense. With the mr2 thing you can still insert a mag normally, you just can't drop it. It affects your ability to RE-load, not loading the weapons from empty cause you afraid of kids getting into it. That would be the same as a normal ar.

A 10rnd fixed mag rifle for home defense works fine, as long as you have a couple of them :) Nothing clears a jam as quickly or confidently as dropping the rifle and grabbing a second one. The thing about home defense is that you aren't carrying your stuff on a 5 mile hike, so not a downside of carrying 2.

Use those wedge floor plate replacements to fix 4 short 10rd mags floorplate to froorplate in sets of two, then jungle clip the 2 sets of 2 together.

Things brings up a question, how many actualy use an AR type rifle for home defense?
