When Canada tried their national long gun registry the RCMP office got applications for grease guns, nail guns, staple guns. Hell, now they got airsoft guns in the stores.......... It was a useless information overload for their data people.

Based on the comments, I'd say a large number of people don't even know about this part of the law, or think it's a hoax. A bunch more feel it doesn't apply to them.

@camper4lyfe I get the point, but the question was can you submit to have restriction removed by NYSP. I am all for (as stated above) hardcopy forms sent snail mail and make them hand enter everything. The problem is, by having a PP the county already knows who I am and what I own, I think by pissing the NYSP off they will tell your county to pull your permit.

What this really is, is the NYSP doing another background check on you every 5 years and cross-referencing what you listed that you own to what the county forwarded to them when you made amendments.
They want to look for reasons to revoke your permit. IE.. Mental health, criminal violations, ect. They also want to revoke or cancel those permits that the holders have since moved away but kept and never informed of the move.
Your county still holds all the power in issuance. The NYSP are just a third party that'll double check everything to make sure we are safe...... sarcasm. They will not be interfering in restrictions. That's up to your county.

Renewal and re-certification of a permit holder’s eligibility is now mandatory and affects every one of our Members. If a pistol permit holder were to fail to re-new and re-certify his or her eligibility to possess a pistol license, that permit holder could (probably would) be charged with at least one Class A Misdemeanor, punishable by up to one year of incarceration. What follows is our current understanding of the process and how obtained this information:

Ok so what is your plan of attack? I think many if not all agree that complaining doesn't work, action does but we need a banner to align behind and plan to execute against. Why is the left successful? Because they have ideological leaders that do the planning (DNC, BLM), the funding (Soros, Bloomberg, et al) and set up the ground game (MDAetc). That's what I'm talking about. With the greatest number of NRA members of any state I'd love to see them step up.
Don't forget there's an item in the SAFE Act saying if your permit is revoked you loose all gun rights. It opens the door for them coming to your house looking for long guns. Mind you this is separate from the federal check.

Need to find some poor minority permit holder and have them sue claiming the cost is discriminatory.
If NY has to foot the bill themselves they'll change their mind about how important the process is quickly.

Arrest you for what?... Just keep your mouth shut and what would they possibly charge you with? In court and when the Judge asks the whereabouts of the firearms and you refuse to answer what do you think will happen? Could the Judge compel you to say who you voted for? Or declare your religion?...
Bottom line is if the "PEOPLE" refuse to participate, what ever would they do... Oh my!?!?

Winning that fight does nothing for you tomorrow when you are unarmed and need it.
You can carry anyway tomorrow unlicensed, but at the cost of your freedom should you ever need to protect yourself.

Make sure you list the guns they own. And for good measure, note that the serial numbers are illegible.
Am fully aware and cognizant of the potential consequences for decisions I may make... Have thought about this since the passage of the Unsafe Act and the Re-Registration clause... There's so much in this law that is unjust it isn't funny!

This is NY, I am very careful to follow the law, but our laws are very incoherent. I would not want to provide evidence that might incriminate me.

The biggest problem we have is we cannot unite and because we have no cohesion, they run all over is instead of us running all over them.

I realize I should know the answer to this, but i don't..........What is the procedure for renewal? Does the state or county notify me, or am I supposed to submit renewal app on my own? How long before expiration should I make app to renew? Does anyone have answers to these questions?
