Just a small part of his agenda. As for the virus ..... he cares nothing of the people, the common man, women, or child.

Only reason they're open is because they're worried the alcoholics will have withdrawals and need to go to the hospital and therefore put more burden on the medical system. As someone who rarely drinks I personally do not view liquor stores as essential but this is their reasoning. Personally, I believe FFLs should have been given the option of remaining open like they are in Illinois. Even if they can't proceed with pistol sales they could still sell long guns and ammo (not that there was much of either of those left on store shelves last week before the shut down).

As a medical professional I understand it from that standpoint but it's still ridiculous. Essentially, drunks have more rights than the average citizen who may want to get a firearm to be able to protect themselves.

Granted that people shouldn't have waited so long to get a firearm, but that still doesn't change things. When it comes to that, I find myself laughing at all of the people who have never been full on supporters of the 2A. Not until they need to get a firearm and find that their rights are being trampled on that they become upset and understand the battle the rest of us have been fighting.

Nearly all offices are closed in the Counties.

This is nothing more than sensational news.

Police department personal are shrunk down, they are the people that handle the background checks. The workforce shut down has effected nearly all branches of local governments.

Most PD's have taken on extra duties, this, argue if you want, is not really essential.

What would be great, won't happen, if when this is over, the process is streamlined.....

What would be great is if the whole "may issue" process went away. But that's not going to happen.

As a second choice, some federal rule like the one for banks.

Banks are prohibited by law from being closed for more than a couple days at a time. Now that doesn't make sense for individual FFLs, but it would for any government controls.

"If you shut down your BGC or permitting process for more than 3 days, then an automatic exemption exists for anyone purchasing a gun until it becomes available again. Any other shutdown within 3 days of the first one instantly triggers the exception with no 3 day delay".

Any law designed to reign in government power needs "teeth" or they will just ignore it when it suits them.

Sorry @FrankenCub I just logged back in and missed your quote on me. I used to think there was a 2ndA here but it's gone. Maybe due to the patriot act and 911? .........I also think that's why the NRA said NY is a lost cause.

it was and was move to the Civil Law section now (when the move happened was way before the safe act .. no clue when ) .. its there .. good luck getting ACLU to help ..

I dont disagree. My line of thought had to do with the Fed, the FDIC, and so forth, as far as banks are concerned.

Now, if you can get Springfield, etc, up and running as a government sponsored entity shipping out guns, then we'd be talking!

I wasn't talking about the manufacturers or FFLs. Just the actual government run BGCs.

If they can tell a private bank they need to stay open, they sure as hell should be able to keep their own department open.

If the law said that BGCs could be bypassed if the office was closed or overwhelmed, I bet they'd change their mind about closing that office real quick.

My issue with this thread is OP implied that ATF was/is proactively shutting down FFL's. That is not, that we know of, the case.

Exactly. I hate stupid articles like this. Big dipshit headline, misleading picture, basically banking that some people aren't going to actually read it.

As we all know now, it's garbage, it was all the counties that did this on their own. Maybe it had something to do with essential/non-essential businesses, but Cuomo didn't directly issue an order for this.

On a better note for anyone in Monroe County, ffl friend of mine knows the new County Clerk and after I mentioned why can't our permit amendment process be more like buying a new car (tax/title/license/etc taken care of at the dealer), he started up conversation w/ her to see if they can't eliminate that whole trip to the Clerk in the first place with a coupon. Call right then and there, add it, then you go home w/ your gun then. Not 100% sure if that's how things are going to end up, but it'd be great if it did. Permit/guns you own is already accessible by police when they pull you over, right? Would be nice to eliminate the whole "printed guns on a separate piece of permit" if they can already access that data from the computer. We'll see I guess.
