that stove sure would look good in my Adirondack camp!

2023 is in different time category.
Sections 2 and 3 of the bill would modify the Environmental Conservation Law to establish the New York state climate action council, and green-house gas emissions limits and reporting requirements, and provisions to address potential impacts on disadvantaged communities.
It's funny. I sent the bill text to my brother and asked him if he knew anything about it. He doesn't heat his home with wood perse but he has a wood burning stove that he loves. We both looked through the bill and couldn't find anything mentioning wood burning stoves or furnaces. He aparently did a word search of the bill and searched "wood burning stove" and similar and nothing came up.Folks they write this stuff up in such a way that the average person cannot even read half of it.
I will say we will be talking about this after the next election cycle...
After the NYS Proposition 2 passed for the State Constitution to be amended- to guarantee a right to clean air, the bureaucrats will have a green light to screw us any way a bureaucrat or ecological extremist wants. They will not need any new actions by the Legislative branch after the Constitution is changed. Hell they may start with regs now. It's funny. The only thing I can find to connect the two, and this may be THE issue, is the mention of Climate Action Councils. They must be the ones talking about regulating wood burning furnaces, but the law itself doesn't mention them by name. This is what I meant when I said it must all be hidden in the legalese.
So yeah. The law and prop 2 enable these Climate Action Councils to fill in what the written law leaves out. After the NYS Proposition 2 passed for the State Constitution to be amended- to guarantee a right to clean air, the bureaucrats will have a green light to screw us any way a bureaucrat or ecological extremist wants. Post in thread 'No More Heating With Firewood In New York?' No More Heating With Firewood In New York?
As you should not comply. If for no other reason than they offer no alternative/replacement that doesn't involve a significant cost burden to the average person this is being forced upon.Don't forget gas and oil.
No heat for you.
Fuck em. I will not comply to this bullshit either. Compliance of all is the issue.
Save my sweat and blood, my wood is free. They cannot afford the ensuing reactions to such a mandate. If for no other reason than they offer no alternative/replacement that doesn't involve a significant cost burden to the average person this is being forced upon.
It's not even the cost. It's the fact that it just makes sense for folks to burn wood. It's abundant and it actually helps preserve land when done correctly. As you should not comply. I was just saying that if for no other reason, the cost alone is a non-starter. I wasn't trying to devalue all the many other reasons why this whole thing is a bad idea. It's not even the cost. You go ask any arborist and they can write you a 10+ page paper on why it's good to cut down trees and burn them. The soot and left overs makes great fertilizer for plants and, yes more trees to properly grow. Hence when there are wild fires, plant growth afterwards just blossoms.
All my sooty leftovers goes into a large barrel that I use for fertilizer mixes.
How long has the environmental quality been around? Only a few decades. Here we are, throwing away centuries of education out the window to make stupid laws based off a few decades of "Uh, I guess we need to tree hug more". (Kind of reminds me of that herd immunity being thrown out the window on the more fashionable topic as of late...)
I'm not complying! My stove will keep eating dead trees for as long as I live!
Totally understandable. I was just adding more to it.I was just saying that if for no other reason, the cost alone is a non-starter. I wasn't trying to devalue all the many other reasons why this whole thing is a bad idea.
Just means they are waiting for the mid term elections to be over with.2023 is in different time category.
We shall see how long not "at this time" will last.
This is possible .. question will they stop at this point... One thing I read was a concern about wood smoke in the neighborhood and asthmais this what there after maybe ? ..
is this what there after maybe ? ..
The older OWBs (outdoor wood boilers), burn "dirty" and are being fazed out. The only ones in operation are the those that are grandfathered in. They have a lifespan and need replacement just like any other furnace after its service life. For over a decade new installs have been EPA approved gasification OWBs. These are downdraft units that force the wood gasses through the bed of coals into a lower burn chamber, where they are burnt off. Temps reach 2000 deg here and dump a ton of heat into the water through heat exchangers. The only thing coming out the smoke stack is steam. Just a fine mist of vapor. This is possible .. question will they stop at this point... One thing I read was a concern about wood smoke in the neighborhood and asthma
Nice Jotul!I will never stop burning wood and I will never leave the land of my forefathers..
