I agree with you guys. the Saigas are nice guns and really nice guns when they were in the $300s. Now they are going used for $700-$800 but hey maybe the dems and Gop will come together and issue a bill allowing Russia to import them again. Personally I think this may happen right after Cuomo says that he wants the Safe act overturned because it has been ineffective and unnecessarily

I recall seeing them regularly for under $350 and a few sale instances at $299 for the .223 and 7.62x39 versions.
IIRC, the .308 was regularly a little more? $379?

A few years back (10?) I won a Saiga 12ga with a 10rd drum in a raffle, But it was not something I wanted so the shop said the Club paid $500.00 and gave me that in credit to trade-up for a DPMS LR 308.

A guy at the Club afterwards asked how I liked it? I told he I didn't and traded-up for something else! He says I never thought about trading-up that why I didn't buy a ticket.

No, well yes. So I traded it for something else. So it's my own damn fault for being stupid and impulsive.

Honestly in most ways I think the 58 is a much better rifle than the ak

I never knew what a vz58 was. I used to watch a show on Cinemax, Strikeback. THAT'S where I first saw one. i asked what type of ak they used, over on ARFCOM...........holy crap !! GD can be ruthless ! LOL

Had to sell my 7.62x39 vepr thanks to the unsafe act. Picked up a saiga same caliber also in '14 for $379 on sale from I believe Atlantic Firearms. Should have bought a bakers dozen...

You could have put a fixed top loading mag and kept it right?

Yes I definitely could have but preferred for a rifle of this type to have a detachable. I really do miss the VEPR. Transferred to a buddy out of state so I get to go and 'visit her' every once and a while lol

Saiga sporter in 7.62x39 is an awesome rifle.

Even more awesome in .223! Just kidding they are great in all calibers.

To the op. Just leave it alone. Adding stuff in this state is not worth the risk. It’s a fine all around rifle as it is. A red dot and a light and it’s a great hd choice. It eats everything from the wolf to the good stuff. If anyone can get one sta decent price buy it!
