Let everyone have guns, EVERYONE! Then make it so anyone that kills another person in the act of committing a felony is barred from any and all prosecution AS LONG as it can be proved that the deceased was indeed, at that moment, committing a felony crime.
Sooner or later we would run out of bad guys.

What exactly is illegal about this gun? I don’t see it being an assault rifle. The mag might be over 10 rounds but there are only 8 rounds in the picture so that leads me to believe the mag is 10 rounds loaded to 7+1 in the chamber? Maybe I’m missing something.

Detachable mag + bayonet lug on the bottom of the gas block. Super, extra deadly!

Why did they stress that it was a PSA gun? Both in the article and news story. That's the odd part for me. I expect to hear more about PSA in the future. Because of that fin and 8 rounds it seems like the person was trying to have a compliant rifle? If so this is the type of person (most people) that gets jammed up because of not knowing and staying up on current law like we do.

I don't see a bayonet lug. Where do you see lugs? I think you're talking about here:

Lugs "might" be there, but they're little ears that allow the bayonet to attach to. But to me it looks smooth, indicating they were shaved down probably by the manufacturer -- thus not allowing a bayonet to attach. Outside of the little lugs on the side of that piece, the only other function is to hold the cleaning rod -- which has nothing to do with a bayonet once the ears are removed.

To me it also looks smooth on the piece here, so I'm in agreement. The tabs aren't on the gas block itself but rather on the cleaning rod holding piece below. You'd see little bulges there, and I don't see anything.

It looks like this is a "by the book" config outside of the pinned (maybe?) mag. Maybe the fin grip is "more" questionable than a spur, but everything on this rifle screams that it is an attempt to comply with the letter of the law.

i have been saying that for years the criminals have them anyways ..

the 2A says nothing this or that .. it says every fkin person should be armed .. good or bad .. deal with it

hearing the term "legal gun owner" makes me want to puke

Not intending this to sound racist, but in reading the story linked above, the "alleged" is perhaps not a US citizen? Just spit balling ideas on what would generate that type of charge.

Perhaps this individual was not able to be legally have any gun, and it's not the compliant psak47 that is the problem

That's what I’m thinking since they didn’t word it like it was an assault weapon. I don’t see any non compliance issues here at all.

No big deal with the bayonet lug thing. Not too many folks fixing for a bayonet charge these days. Truth is if you had a neutered gas block you wouldn’t even notice it anyway until you actually went to fix a bayonet. Doesn’t compromise the function of the rifle in any other way. If you ever find yourself in a free state and it pisses you off, easy way is just replace the gas block. Wouldn’t really want to weld new tabs so close to the barrel, and forget JB weld.

yup, they're going to keep the confiscated rifle and quietly dismiss this case.

IS this a true SAFE Act only arrest? In a perfect world the owner would contact FPC or GOA and fight this right to SCOTUS but in reality its much less hassle, time, and money to just take L and go buy a replacement. And therein lies the problem

If it's the one pictured, then it's likely to get confiscated and destroyed as part of a plea deal to avoid going to trial over a (un) SAFE Act violation.
The "Pistol grip" really isn't, as it's now a part of the stock, the magazine appears larger than ten rounds, but there are many that do while being limited to ten rounds, and with eight rounds also shown that could be the case... there's ALWAYS more to the story than the snews prints.

There was another Arrest linked in the story: Amsterdam man facing felony DUI, weapons charges after Bethlehem traffic stop
Now this clown is what the Legislature thinks gun owners are.

So he bought it after 9/4/2022? I don’t see it being an assault rifle. Just curious why you think it’s illegal possession of a gun that would need to be registered?

I only posted the law that I believe he was charged with. As usual, there is not enough information to know for sure.

He was indeed and in fact charged. This is the charge that I think they used against him.

I think the mag is removable, it does not look like there is any kind of "pinning". That said, I agree with "illegally possessed" he might not be allowed any firearms. Who knows. I find it odd the article stressses PSA although their PSAK is a nice rifle. Too bad it is not in the Rosewood or Nuteg, instead it is scarey awful black. Altough who knows, maybe that is not the actual rifle the guy had.....
