NYGF shoot/range event, what would it take?

As the title asks. What would it take to get a range event going for the forum and it's members? Is it even something we could/would want to do? If so, what would it take? We'd obviously need a host range that was a geographic compromise to allow for people all over the state to reasonably attend. We'd probably want to have some kind of theme ie) 3 gun, distance, steel plate challenge Etc.. Could maybe be an in the flesh version of the monthly shooting contest, only not necessarily monthly???? Might get more people interested?

I think it could be a good thing for us and certainly something that would strengthen the community, maybe help fight that chronic issue of not having enough gun content on our forum... What do you guys and gals think?

I would be down with a meet and greet range day. Dsdmmat might be able to get us a range but the range is northern ny. It would be fun doing the monthly challenge, could make it interesting and have a fee to do it. Nothing crazy, $1 or 2 entry fee with 100% payout. The range would have to be compensated.

I'll admit, while I have always had a strong interest in guns and the 2A, I haven't been to many marksmanship/training events. Appleseed is really the only marksmanship event I have attended. With that though, I always think about the idea of getting us together, not to just talk bullshit or politics but to come together as gun enthusiasts and have some fun and build on our skills and converse in person Etc. Etc.

I haven’t been to any training. I do shoot gssf twice a year....I am learning pistol skills as I go. It would be fun looking and holding other people firearms, checking out different optics.

I could take awhile if we have too many events. I went to a range event twice for a predator hunting forum. It was fun. I think we did three events. Groups at 200 yard, golf ball shoot and shooting two targets at close range that was timed and scored.

Right. We'd have to decide on what type of event we'd want. Making it easy and accessible would be priority. We should start simple and see how it goes. If there ends up being enough attendance and interest after the fact, should we get an initial event on the books, we could branch out.
