Jaywmustang simply floated an idea for people to get together without having to organize the whole thing. It was just an idea.
As of now we are not at the point where we are deciding what kind of event it would be. This is just to see if people would be interested in having a forum event. The event would be ours and not piggy backing on another. So changing your vote because someone made a suggestion or floated an idea here makes no sense to me.

All kidding aside I hope this happens but it has been tried before and failed. I've been a member here since the beginning and when the forum was started 2 trainers that advertise here tried this. @Stretz Tactical Inc. and @OnSight Firearms Training. They offered NYGF only courses at discounted rates and I signed up for both. Stretz got litttle or no response, had to cancel and refunded my money. Ben had to open his class to anyone who would come and aside from me had one or two other forum members no one else came.
I hope this time it works.

It won't be a GSSF.
I know people have tried to get something going in the past with little to no success. I can't say why those didn't quite work out. Maybe because they were at a location that was too far away to be worth while or the cost was too much? Or maybe it had to do with them being vendors and it was advertised more as a group rate on training than an actual event thought up and coordinated by forum members? IDK.
One thing that is for sure though, is that I cannot make this happen alone. If we all would like to see this come to fruition then it will take a little effort one way or another, by us, to make it happen.

The plan was to see what this poll returned and then do a new anonymous poll on what region of the state whoever is interested in this, lives. If the majority of the people are in the same general area, it may make more sense to have the event out that way. If the poll shows that there are a lot of interested people spread out over the state, then maybe split the state up into three (or more) regions and see about getting someone from each region to volunteer as regional coordinators and get an event going in their region.
