Well yesterday I was able to run to the range and get some time with my ported G19.

Ammo used.. 180 rounds total
115g steel case wolf ball
115g brass case federal ball
124g brass Remington ball
124g Federal HST

Stock recoil spring and "tuned" recoil spring

Complete failure, was able to blast of a few full mags here and there, but with no consistency..

Biggest issue, failure to go back into battery, and I mean just ever so slightly out, to the point the trigger reset but was a dead trigger, push the slide forward with my thumb and would fire

Next most frequent issue, failure to go into battery, but also trigger not resetting, tap the back of the slide and it was good.

Next, failure to eject,

And finally failure to fully extract the round from the magazine, it would start to pick up the round and then once the nose hit the feed ramp it would stop.


I will be E-Mailing Mod-K to see what advice they have to try and fix these issue to get the gun to be 100%(ish) reliable (nothing can be 100%)

With that said, the rounds that I did fire, yea you can see a noticeable difference using the ports, the gun instead of recoiling almost wants to go back on target... but at the same time its not some crazy life changing experience. I believe if I was on a whole other level of shooting skills the ports would make much more of a difference.

Lastly I noticed the HSTs had the most issue which is weird I figured they would be loaded a bit "hotter" and have the least amount of issues.

Part of me is wondering if the cerakote is just slightly too thick

I'm not sure, because of the failure to go into battery I was thinking that but also the failure to eject throws me off.

And as weird as it sounds I tossed the slide on my old chopped g19 frame with stock trigger and it doesnt seem to have the same issues so I'm going to see if maybe for some odd reason it might be the trigger (I doubt it)

Try the factory barrel. Maybe you have some severe connector drag. Try dry firing(no mag)and keep the trigger pulled, pull the slide back, point the barrel straight up and ride the slide forward. If it goes into battery your good and if it stays out a bit release the trigger to see if it closes.

You may have one problem possibly two.

So went back again today, 50 more rounds of the brass cases 115g and 124g.

Stock recoil spring, original frame and trigger.

And here is the one of it just slightly out of battery after firing a round giving me a dead trigger.

I did notice today that if I was super aggressive with my grip I had less malfunctions

Try the factory barrel. Maybe you have some severe connector drag. Try dry firing(no mag)and keep the trigger pulled, pull the slide back, point the barrel straight up and ride the slide forward. If it goes into battery your good and if it stays out a bit release the trigger to see if it closes. You may have one problem possibly two.

This is the factory barrel. And it's looking like I am going to need to scoop up a new barrel and run it with no ports.

I also didn't get any pictures but had a couple of failure to ejects with the tuned spring.

Slide made it most of the way back but not enough to eject and the locked open on the spent casing

So I just tried this, and its deff staying out of battery quite a bit, then when the trigger is released it goes forward some but still very much out

The chopped 19 (used today has all OEM gen 4 set up) the other frame has an agency trigger, with their polished gen 3 trigger bar and a Overwatch precision NP3 coated factory minus connector

Try the stock connector with all else the same. See if there is any difference when riding the slide to battery with barrel up.

I did, that is what is in the chopped 19 I used today. Other than the frame being chopped that 19 is 100%stock (other than the slide modifications and barrel ports)

Nope it still had the same issues as the modded glock. Luckily there is a new 2A business (mostly laser engraving grips and slides or what not, some kydex work I guess) I've been meaning to go check out but never had a reason but they did just get their glock armorer certification so I may see if they want to help out

looking at the pics you posted I think I had the same problem with you G34 that had me chasing my tail for quite awhile. When it happened I could not push the slide forward, the bullet was jammed on the top of the barrel opening. Pulling the slide back would eject the round. Is that similar to what you are experiencing?

When it happened I could not push the slide forward, the bullet was jammed on the top of the barrel opening. Pulling the slide back would eject the round. Is that similar to what you are experiencing?

I try, and hey if I get it running mostly reliable then I'll use it as a fun competition barrel set up. Or if I really fix it completely then I will carry it.

I'm really thinking a non ported barrel would help, but the drag and failure to lock up even with all OEM parts (other than barrel mod) has me confused

I do still have my CZ P07 with RMR or even my chopped G17 am carrying.

I had a feeling this venture wouldn't be a grab and go (man I hoped it was just a simple plug and play) and it isnt which is part of the territory

Yeah in those pictures yea that is what happened.

Ok then now we are on to something. I tried everything, ammo, recoil springs, connectors, grip and nothing worked. Sometimes 2-3 time a mag and other times 3-4 mags with no issue.

You might be quick to nay say this and it made no sence to me with my G34. Take the slide completely apart and clean the crap out of it. Clean through the striker channel and the extractor spring channel, clean the extractor and channel out real good too. Of course inspect everything real close for burrs and what ever. When you put it back together use more oil, put a little oil on your fingers and wipe the strike spring, extractor spring and extractor. Oil the groves in the slide like you would on a 1911.

I know this sounds crazy.... But when I did it my problems went away and did not return. Maybe a piece of junk it just the wrong place of or friction somewhere. In my gut I think it was a lube issue, but not sure. Now I wipe it down every 400-500 rounds and re-oil and no more issues.
